Letting agency does their job

I lived in a flat managed by Martin&co for four years. The flat was managed well in most cases, but I would have liked more beforehand information on what external contractors were going to do in the flat when, for example, electric installations were done. Once I came in late in the evening from work, and an electrician had removed most of the ceiling lamps during the day as a part of some modernisation work that had not been explained to me in detail. Other than that, everything worked as promised and issues were always sorted out.

To this point (I got the house keys and currently I'm dealing with some issues) she was helpful and amazing. PS: the missing star is due to the current issues with the apartment, not Caitlin's professionalism. EDIT: when I moved out I accidentally payed a month's rent more, as the bank order wasn't cancelled in time. When I contacted her she said she asked the owner to give the money back, (but of course they never did). A couple of weeks later I presented a solution, and she said she'd run it with her manager and she would get back to me in 48 hours. Since then I heard nothing from her or anyone in their office. I sent them repeatedly letters, and while there was proof they were being delivered, no answer came back. Eventually I had to contact the property's ombudsman, where they had the wrong ombudsman at their website, to take my money back 8 months later. Overall: ok experience, ups and downs in terms of checking the "happenings" in the property and responsiveness, but be careful to cancel the bank order in time!!!PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

I'm surprised that this company ever sells a property! I emailed C*****n asking to view an advertised property which had been on sale for several months - no reply. I followed up with two telephone messages, neither of which was returned. Third time lucky and C*****n actually answered my call. I was advised that Martin & Co are so busy that they "only conduct viewings on Fridays" irrespective of whether this is convenient for the potential viewer (which it isn't) or not. So much for customer service. I have since contacted the seller directly as its obviously too much of an effort for Martin &Co to do their job properly or professionally. If I wanted to sell a property I wouldn't let this lot anywhere near it.NegativeProfessionalism

If you have standards then avoid Martin & Co Lancaster. Don't expect the property to have been cleaned prior to getting the keys. If you have issues with the property expect to wait weeks, even months, for repairs to be carried out! Filthy carpets, damaged flooring, disgusting dirty oven, no instructions for the boiler or alarm system, no working smoke alarm for 2 months... these are just a 'few' of the issues I had. Never have I rented from such a poor letting agent.
