Please Be Aware Before Going For Martin & Co Southend on sea Letting & Estate Agents!!? My parents 58 and 65 years old, were looking for a flat to live in. They are not fluent English speakers, but they do work and live in UK legally as a country of European Union. They went to this agency and they were offered to view a flat on the 2nd April. They did view the property and decided that it was the appropriate property for them. They gladly paid the agency fees of 395.00 Pounds and they were told by the agent that the property would be available from 20th of April. So, the agent told my parents that she would be in touvh before the moving date as she needed to contact the landlord. Days past by and there were no contact whatsoever by the agent. I had to call them back and everytime I did, they said that the agent who was dealing with my parent’s case wasn’t in the office. At the end we received a phone call by the agent on the 10th of April, which stated that my parent’s needed to go to the agency to get the Fees back as she couldn’t help because the landlord did not want to let the property to my parents, without giving a reason why. My parents felt very humiliated and very disappointed and what’s more very Let Down by this agency. Since they never explained the reason why the landlord didn’t accept to rent the flat to my parents, I do totally feel that they were discriminated for their age and maybe they took advantage of them because they cannot speak/understand English as much as they should. Please be aware before going to this agency!!!!
Waiting for inspection today between 8.15 and 8.30 .changed my shift at work ao I could ACCOMMODATE THEM .At 9.50 am finally got through to someone as no one had come .They then put me on hold and when finally came back to me said no one is coming and were going to phone me after their morning meeting ???? No apology disgraceful service. I couldn't believe their attitude our landlord is changing to another estate agent but they could have at least let us know they weren't coming .Like someone else has said soon in touch when they want their money .Never return phonecalls my daughter has phoned them so many times and never returned calls .Extremely poor service and attitude .
Disgusting service from this “company”. After weeks of waiting and excuse after excuse & contradictions, they finally said they would do the repair, but then when I phoned them, they said it depends if another emergency comes up. Unbelievable! The problem is a leaking pipe that they don’t seem to care about, ruining my patio. Also another matter I raised, a garden full of rubbish is still out there after at least a year!!! I don’t believe they will do anything, and can’t trust what they say, so I’m ending up doing it myself, at least I know it will be done!!! If they bother doing anything I will update
Martin and co and rubbish agency don't call you back when say they will. We have been in our house for a year now. A year on still waiting for work to be done via them. Never put the tenant first and fed up of calling them chasing up on jobs to be done. Don't use this agency if thinking of renting your place out. 1 star is too high a rating in my book it's no stars.
Awful service, treated really badly and have a lot of mould issues that took months to fix and turned out it wasn't it had just become summer and heating went off mould returned following winter, communication was poor and staff were extremely rude at Southend martin and co especially Gaynor. They handed out our keys for maintenance people to enter our flat without our knowledge scaring my heavily pregnant girlfriend when on maternity leave by a man letting himself in and coming into the flat, when phoned to complain they had the cheek to complain we scared the man entering. Return of deposit is still a battle 4 weeks later and they do not look after tenants only landlords it seems
Sending daily texts to a phone demanding a Tennant to pay money when NOTHING is due until the END of the month!..evidence can be provided to anyone wanting to rent from this company. Call to ask a question get told they need to talk to someone and will get back to the tenant, didnt happen ... demanding once rent paid that they have tennants personal bank payment receipts for a bank transfer or the balance won't be cleared...wow... so much hassle . Either want to be paid or NOT? ??!!? How is that possible for a busy person to do this, surely its there job.
