We moved into a property rented from RP In June 21. The house was dirty and the inventory stated that it had not been professionally cleaned. A few days after moving in, my partner and I contracted Covid. He was admitted to hospital a week after we moved in. I advised RP of what had happened and asked them to stop sending him email reminders to sign the inventory as he was in a coma. They kept sending the reminders. They even came round to do a house check during this time. My partner died of Covid 4 weeks later. The ITU nurse advised that it was likely that we had contracted Covid from the dirty property and I should advise the agents of this. After the devastating loss of my partner, I did not have the strength to do this. I moved out of the house in Oct 22 and left it cleaner than when we moved in. Nicola Helm from RP advised that they would be deducting from the deposit as the house had not been professionally cleaned. She only backtracked on this when I sent her the original inventory. She then deducted for a mark that was there when we moved in but I did not have a date stamped photo to prove this as requested by her. The deposit was in my late partners name so his daughter had to go to the ombudsman to dispute this charge. The ombudsman awarded us 3/4 of the amount disputed as agreed that RP charge was over inflated even though I did not have a date stamped photo. I would have taken all my issues with RP further but did not want to put my partners daughters through any more distress. The stress and upset that this company caused, particularly Nicola Helm has been appalling.
Hopeless. No call backs for over a week and a half. When chased, they had let the property slip through my fingers. Hopeless. Beware.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism
I called simply to confirm whether a property was still available to rent - and if so, ask a few short questions about it. Instead, I was immediately interrogated for sensitive information, e.g., my job title and salary. To be clear, I hadn't asked to view the property. But rather than help, they chose to "qualify" me first - presumably to help them decide whether I was worthy of their time. Of course, tenants are ten-a-penny, so my refusal to comply will make absolutely no difference to them. Bottom line: unless you're a landlord, you're just not important. Be warned!
Waste of time never get back to you
Viewed 2 properties with russels and information about parking was mixed up (by the agent) about both. I moved into one of the properties i viewed based information about parking availability given by the agent. The flat i was told had parking actually had none, but only found out after moving in. After complaining to the estate agent they basically said there was nothing they could do. Frankly they couldn't care less once they had my deposit money. They are just another bunch of standard slimey estate agents with a spinkle of incompetence.
Protect your tenants and reflect this in your practice and policies. Despite 3 months notice, sourcing new tenants and upping rent by £100p/m, it cost us £1,065 (£59 short of our deposit) to leave due to employment relocation. Appalling conduct despite being model Tenants.
