As much as the people you deal with are professional and polite. They will just avoid dealing with expensive and serious problems in rental properties. We were permitted to exit our tenancy early due to the mould within the property. Which we had been complaining about for months, they still do not admit to there being a damp problem despite letting us out the tenancy early due to it. Just telling us it’s condensation, despite us having a tumble dryer, heating being on 24/7, windows always open and wiping the walls every other day. More than likely it has just been painted over and the new tenants who are in now will get a horrible surprise in about two weeks when the walls start to grow fur. We were also expected to just accept that the flat had a mysterious sewage flood and carry on paying rent with no real assurance that anything would be done to prevent it happening again. Now we are moving out they are trying to charge us close to half the deposit for problems within the flat that we had either reported or they had noted during the property inspections. Currently in the process of reporting to both Brighton City Council, Redress, Shelter and the TDS. Also seeking legal council to claim back all the financial loss we’ve suffered due to the hazardous waste and mould that ruined about half our possessions.
