This last May, I phoned to enquire if they had any viewings I could attend. I was asked for my name and when I gave it the employee I spoke to said in a very snarky tone “who spell’s their name like that?” I responded in a very polite tone that it is because my full name is hard to spell for people in the UK, then I gave her my last name which I spelled out to her because again, my name is foreign. I tried my best to be friendly to her and make small talk, as I know what its like to work in the service industry and how awful it can be. So I make a point to be kind to those who work in jobs that deal with other people. She then asked me where I was getting my money from, I told her and she continued by asking how much my boyfriend (who I was looking for a flat with) makes in a year. I didn’t know and told her so, she said in a very condescending tone, “oh well then we can’t help you.” No suggestion of maybe asking him and phoning back. It seemed as though I was too ‘foreign’ to rely on being able to make payments and that she didn’t want my money. This experience the was appalling. I considered just writing a negative review but decided to actually go to their office in Stirling. I spoke to who I assume was a manager and told her about my experience and how I felt that the woman I spoke to on the phone must just have been having a bad day, maybe she needed a break or some time off. The manager told me I would receive a written apology to my email address and also news on any new lettings available. To this day I still haven’t heard from them. While I didn’t need an apology, it would have made me feel as though the company actually cared about customer service. Now I feel as though being rude wasn’t just a mistake made by one employee who was having a bad day, this is something that the company condones. Yeah and my foreign money is going to someone else now.
