Raj Gill - Bairstow Eves (Streetly) Me and my wife had been to several mortgage advisors. Due to the temporary nature of my employment, and me being a contractor, we were not having any luck. Even our own bank (HSBC) who we had both been with for more than 11 yrs couldn’t help us. Some of the advisors even knocked our confidence, and in so many words, they told us that we had no chance of getting a mortgage at all. I visited the local Bairstow Eves branch, just to get some insight as to their outlook on a contractor being able to obtain a mortgage, and ended up with an appointment to see their mortgage advisor. At the time, I was really contemplating cancelling the appointment, as I genuinely felt that if the big banks wouldn’t entertain us, then there was certainly nothing that an estate agent could do for us. I did end up going to the appointment with my wife, and we took the documentation they asked for. Our hope changed the second we met Raj, who was a bubbly, loving, happy and down to earth lady. During our discussion, I couldn’t help but think that something wasn’t right, and that maybe Raj had misunderstood my circumstances. Every time I reminded Raj of my circumstances, she would reassure us that although our options were more limited, she would do her best for us, and that everything was going to be ok. Raj really listened to what we had to say, and took a genuine interest, so that she was able to cater to our circumstances, and try all avenues of possibilities. Within 1 hour of meeting Raj, she had our Mortgage in Principle certificate sitting on the table, and she sent us on our way to start looking for a property. For the next 4 months during our property search, we had all types of questions popping up in our minds. Raj is a very busy lady with many clients (which doesn’t surprise us), but when we would call her, there was never once where she made us feel that she didn’t have the time for us. She would always answer our questions as best as she could, and on the 1 or 2 occasions, where some slight clarification was required, she would find out, and get straight back to us. After 4 months of searching, we found a house which was a lot nicer than anything we could have hoped for. Being ambitious, we put an offer in, and to cut a long story short, the keys were in our hands just over 2 months later. From putting the offer in, to picking up the keys, Raj supported us through every step. She kept on top of things, and chased everything she could for us, like it was her own property purchase. We still cannot believe our luck in coming across Raj, and we are over the moon with our purchase. Raj did not win a sale, she won our hearts and our respect, with the way she treated us. Even if the banks or another estate agent would have turned round and offered us a cheaper deal, we would have stuck with Raj, not to mention the interest rate, and the deal that she had got for us was phenomenal. If all mortgage advisors were like Raj, I think people would buy houses just for the hell of it. I think the local Bairstow Eves landed on their feet, having Raj as their mortgage advisor. She is an asset to the business. I wish her nothing but the best in ALL that she does, and hope that one day someone can provide her with the level of service that she gave us, and make her dreams come true the way she did for us.
