Lettings: poor service, aggressive, defensive, never fix repairs

Rented a property through Nicol&Co and would not recommend this agent for lettings. Seemed very accommodating at first but once they've got your money, you can wave goodbye to a decent level of service from them. A couple of examples: a window was broken and they were more concerned about an potential insurance claim against them arising from broken glass falling on a passing pedestrian, rather than the fact the pedestrian might be scarred for life and seriously injured or even killed if broken glass falls on them. In fixing this, they gave the keys to my home to a sub-contractor of a sub-contractor, who was unknown to them and told him he could enter my home whether I was there or not. Long story short, he was an unsavoury character who entered my home when he thought I would be at out at work, despite my specific and repeated instructions not to do so. When I complained to Nicol&Co, they told me that I did not need to know when he would be letting himself in. They were very defensive and tried to justify their appalling contempt for tenant safety, security and peace of mind. Another example: I had a water leak in the bathroom which Nicol&Co made no effort to fix for literally a year and a half. When I later needed repairs to a broken light fitting in the bathroom and another water leak, Nicol&Co ignored these outstanding repairs for 6 months until I eventually withheld the rent in protest. True to form, the money-focused employees at Nicol&Co then suddenly gave it their attention, but not without sending me an email containing threats, lies and fabricated laws. This company claim they provide a high level of service to tenants, but this is laughable as they are a greedy lettings agent who are only interested in the money and treat their tenants with contempt, rudeness and dishonesty. I would recommend avoiding this agent if you are looking to rent a property in Worcestershire.
