As a landlord with the

As a landlord with the 'fully managed' option I can honestly say they are extremely poor. The service was poor and failed to inspect my property which they were paid to do, when I checked it myself it was in a poor state and the tenant had to be evicted. They refused to deal with the abusive tenant and due to negligence in the check in/out process I was left with the bill with just £60 from the bond despite thousands to put the property right. The work done by their so called joiner was atrocious and had to be re-done by professional painters, cleaners etc. Shocking, avoid at all costs!

Absolutely terrible, I had to

Absolutely terrible, I had to constantly chase them up to get them to do anything at many points throughout the process of even making the application, for them to consistently ignore me and make the repeatedly used excuse of the employee handling your application has been off for the past few days. Then once the application came back from the separate agency handling background and credit checks, they never even bothered to contact us to let us know it was successful, I had to call in two weeks after we submitted the application, for them to again make the aforementioned excuse, promise contact that day, for me to, again, have to contact them the following day. The icing on the now likely moldy cake was the employee handling our application blaming the separate company for not delivering the the report until that day, when I had confirmation of the returned report the day before, by a receptionist. I implore landlords of Bradford, please avoid this company, they charge your tenants at every possible opportunity and delay how long your property is off the market through sheer incompetency. I cannot speak for Whitegates as a whole, but this branch seems to treat customers like numbers in a bingo machine, maybe you'll get lucky and have your application dealt with today.

I've used them for several

I've used them for several houses over several years Completely useless Don't answer emails (from tenants or landlords) Didn't put up sign boards Then put up wrong signboards Didn't reply to enquiries from prospective tenants (& therefore lost me £1350) Don't seem to use computers - let me look on my friends desk & she what note she has left herself..... sorry I don't understand the note Then they hold on to money far longer than needed - the only person that can transfer funds is only in on Thursdays They took 3 & 4 months to rent 2 houses - my other very similar house in the same development has just let in a matter of days (without Whitegates)

The estate agents were slick and knowledgeable but you don't deal with them on a daily basis. Instead useless receptionists make error after error and you get no compensation / reduction in fees for their poor work. I would never recommend Whitegates! EVER!

what started off well ended

what started off well ended so badly.. i Was in the process of purschasing a property through this agent but the staff and service provided by almost all at the darley street branch was below standard from the way they answered the phone the tone and manner in the speech how they handle the customer requires some serious customer service training needs. After my offer was accepted a third party / second buyer was also interested in the property which is fine, fair and expected so the offer soon increased by £20k and instead of drawing a line anywhere and letting one of us start the mortatge process i kept getting asked for my 'best and final offer' which was asked over 7 times in the space of 2 weeks so i told them if its a bidding war they wanted they should go for the auction route as best and final offers are asked once and the highest offer gets the property but this is becoming a joke how can i sort my mortgage and start paying for fees and surveys when they keep on agreeing to other offers after accepting mine.. which was supposed to be the 'best and final offer' i was at my wits end and only 1 agent from the this branch was helpfull and brilliant at her job 'Keiran/ Kiran' unsure of how her name is spelt but this lady was polite well mannered had fantastic customer service skills at all times kept me up to date with whats happening apart from the 4 days she was on sick leave.. during them 4 days the other unhelpfull/ unprofesional staff had given me incorrect offer amounts.. i got 4 people to call up and check exactly what is going on and all 4 came back with different amounts from £109950, £125000, £128000, and finally £115000..? these were all the supposedly current offers on the house so anyone offering would have to offer in the excess of these that is what the agents at whitegates told the people i got to call up and enquire, so when i received the call the follwoing week asking again if i would increase my offer of £121000 i explained what i had found out and teh agent on the phone denied all this to my shock i explained i was present when the calls were made to their office to ask what the current offer on this property was and the agenst gave all 4 callers 4 different amounts i told whitegates that iam retracting all my previous offers i am not going to put my time effort and money and trust in a company that has messed me around for 4 weeks lied been caught out and not had the decency to apologise, managed to speak to 'Keiran/Keiran today who was very apologetic for the way i had been dealt with i informed her that i will be writing to head office about my experience and why in future i will not be using whitegates for buying, selling, letting or anyother service.

The services rendered by

The services rendered by Whitegates not only fall of decent standards but are shockingly inept and ineffective. This covers dealings with serious issues persisting over years where water leaks throughout the buildings are evident and causing damage, not to mention the questions over its health and safety impact for residents when soil pipes through the building have to be completely changed after more than 3 years of leakage. As part of tenancy agreements, is the repair of basic utilities within reasonable period. It is surprising that such "reasonable periods" for basic things such as washing machines appear to take more than 4 weeks of deliberations when the problem was identified on the first visit. There are contractual obligations which have been seriously infringed. Such practices often result in businesses underperforming and eventually the agency ceases to exist. Customer satisfaction in business is key and Whitegates is no where near achieving a satisfactory level.

Reply from agent

Dear Prof. RN, I thought you would have removed this comment after we had discussed the matter at length at the time. As I said at the time it was a bit disappointing to read when you have rented through us for 4 years and 10 months and had not bought any matter to my attention. As you are now aware we at Whitegates can not generally take on matters that are issues with the whole block. This was a build fault dating back to 2005. The developer had gone bust, and the block management were attempting to involve the NHBC style insurer. As you are also aware that I became a Director of the Management Co. and through the latter 3 months of last years the full remedial works were completed and a cost of over £120,000. Stonegate House is now highly regarded locally and the intermittent problems are now thankfully a thing of the past. I do hope life is treating you well in Scotland. Regards Ian
