Avoid unless you aren’t fussed about keeping any of your deposit - crooks!

Tenants who are dealing with Ellis and Co make sure you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. Alongside a rather unscrupulous landlord they tried to take our whole deposit (initially 110% of it), treating it as if the money was theirs to take. Thankfully we had been warned by previous tenants and so used the deposit protection system and after some serious stress got it all back. I would really recommend any tenants dealing with them to be clear on what is and isn’t your responsibility. They tried to intimidate us but thankfully my partners a lawyer and had seen this kind of thing before. In a reply to the below - you worked on his behalf and were given full responsibility by him in all emails we saw. Registering with the independent deposit scheme is a legal requirement, not a kind gesture.

Incompetent doesn't nearly cover it. Outside drain has been leaking onto bedroom ceilings for months, both rooms have had part of ceiling replaced, but still drain not fixed. Replies from them take days if not weeks, and often the reply they do send is completely useless in all senses. I greatly recommend avoiding this place like the plague. Shambles.

Very poor Misspelled my contract and miscalculated simple figures

My flatmates and I are students currently renting a property through Elis and Co. We have been nothing but respectful to the lettings agents, but have found that the treatment we are receiving to be extremely disappointing. Hopefully this is due to the fact we are students and they do not treat all client this way. They advertised the property to be “premium”, however apart from the price, we have found it to be nothing short but sub-par, from the utlilties to the service provided by the agency. If there are any students looking to rent an apartment through Elis and Co, I would strongly advise against it.

The property manager has been helpful with promptly replies. However, the some members lettings team were not very professional.
