Avoid. At the end of Tenancy they tried to claim our entire deposit. Luckily the TDS service saw through their greed and awarded us close to the full amount back.

Hi Adam, we completely understand how time-consuming and frustrating deposit arbitration by the TDS can be and as your agent, we always aim to mediate an amicable resolution between landlords and tenants to avoid these lengthy deposit disputes. Ashtons do not dictate deductions, we take the evidence from both parties into account to find a solution. In your case, regrettably, our attempts to mediate could not reach a mutual agreement and the external arbitration service awarded compensation based on the landlords claim against you. Disappointed with a property I bought from Ashtons St Albans. I was the easiest and quickest buyer they can have, but upon moving in, their seller left the property in a disgusting state. I asked for their help about loads of rubbish in the filthy house. Sales Coordinator Louise Walker and Claudia Reynolds from their office even have no courtesy to return my calls or reply to my emails. They failed to contact the seller directly to leave the property in an acceptable condition or try to resolve the situation. I am a disappointed and unhappy buyer of Ashtons St Albans.

Awful management company. Takes months for them to sort anything. Caused me so much stress. Even nearly a year on the issues are not resolved. It doesn't matter how many times you call or email, they have all the excuses in the world.

An absolute nightmare company. They let the house next door, and although the tenants have recently moved out, we still have a damaged fence where their child climbed over, and over grown hedges that need sorting. I certainly wouldn't recommend them.

Estate agents that encourage deceit and gazumping.... would not recommend. Very disrespectful

I have spoken with the team looking after this sale who have confirmed that after your offer was accepted, another interested party came forward with several bids on the property. Our team at no time encourage additional offers after a sale has been agreed but under the Estate Agent Act must legally report all offers to a seller up until the exchange of contract. All steps were taken to advise you throughout the process and to allow the opportunity for counter offers to be put forward. We are duty bound to report all offers received and to take our clients instruction, and while the decision was not an easy one for the seller, ultimately the decision was made to go with the other bidder. False information given by Louise Walker in regard to delays with local searches which has caused a huge panic throughout the chain I'm involved with. Thank goodness I didn't instruct Ashtons. What a poor show. Please fact check in future and please stop creating unnecessary panic in an already stressful climate.

Thank you for your comments. Having investigated this further, Louise had been informed by a local reputable solicitor that all local authority searches would be delayed until 14th July. With this in mind, Louise updated her clients of the same in order to manage expectations and make a suggestion that they and/or their own solicitor contact the council themselves for further clarity. Louise also checked in with St Albans District Council herself and established that this may have been miss-communicated to the solicitor and upon finding this out, immediately made all parties aware. We apologise if this caused any unnecessary stress but Louise was working in the best interests of all to mitigate what could have been hugely problematic, with the end of the Stamp Duty Holiday looming. We trust this provides clarity on the matter but Louise has offered that she would be very happy to speak to you or any other parties directly on this and can be contacted on 01582 463960.

House buying is often stressful anyway, but Ashtons made it much much worse. We were constantly misled and had unreasonable levels of pressure put on us (eg .being routinely told we were holding up the chain when it was their client, not us.). I've previously bought a house where the sellers didn't move out on completion. I would rather repeat that than ever deal with Ashtons again.
