I booked a viewing for a property the day before for 9.30am. I was told I'd be contacted to confirm this booking. I arrived for 9.30am and did not see the agent. I then had to call the company to find out that the letting agent did not want a 6 month tenancy. This was at 9.32am I should not have to contact the company to find this out! I should have been contacted the day before!
Absolutely poor service from top to bottom. I rented from them and when I left. they put a claim on my deposit even after the checkout inventory did not highlighted any issues. It took them almost a month to make up their mind on what claims to put through DPS. I got all my deposit back after my case was referred to ADR almost 3 months after my tenancy ended. I am thinking this kind of practice would put a lot of strain on family’s who’s deposit they claim upon and surely anyone in need of money would give in to greedy agents making false claims. I rented from many agent never faced any problem like this. I can surely say with regards Gascoigne and Halman. Don’t rent from them and if you do make sure checkin inventory is thoroughly checked and do necessary amendment within 7 days ( Gascogne Halman says amendments should reach them within 48hrs). And lastly Msg for Rebecca where is duty of care towards your tenants and looking after their interests, tenants are your customers and if they don’t rent from you, your wage will not be paid, unless you have get commission or bonus to successfully claim from deposits.
If you think gazuping is an unethical act then don't deal with Marcus Jolleys. In our case we had an offer accepted on a property and Marcus Jolleys contacted another interested buyer without any instruction from the seller and instigated the gazuping of our offer. Not a man with any integrity. Buyers beware
Having rented several properties through Gascoigne with no issues, we ran into a problem on our last property, Gascoigne area management did a wonderful job of trying to resolve the issues in a professional way, however the local office were not interested in resolving the dispute, this was until area Management got involved. I would have given them 5 stars up until this, but sadly won't be using them again unless it's absolutely necessary.
