I have used Martin & Co in Leeds for a few years now for my buy to Let flats and have always received an excellent service. Sue Wilson has always responded quickly and dealt with any requirements in a professional manner.

The agent who viewed the property after my son and and I thoroughly cleaned the flat at blue hill lane in Leeds just before leaving a 5 year tenancy has told me today 11 Sept that the flat was very clean when he viewed after we left. My son had been an exemplary tenant. Paid his rent no problem for the full five years. He was a model tenant! Now they want £85 for a 'light clean' out of the deposit. (A LIGHT CLEAN 😂). The flat needs full decoration before someone moves in. ( in my opinion ). Although I have been informed that the new tenant will decorate it for them. (Bonus for the landlord). Rather than thanking my son for being a good tenant of 5 years. NO NOTHING LIKE THAT! It's Money on their mind. Shame on them. Was it worth £85. Arbitration will no doubt view our evidence and not allow this poor choice to try and squeeze a little more money from my son. That's why the rental sector needs that regulation because some humans do not know how to behave. I don't rate the way that you have finished the tenancy. It is an insult. You had an opportunity to say thanks for his tenancy and wish him well. You didn't. You'd rather try get £85 for a light clean. What is a light clean? A huff and rub with a shirt sleeve? When we already cleaned the flat through. 🙄 Update: It seems that this may be the landlord at work and not Martin and Co. And I will contact Martin and Co to ask for support for the case of Arbitration at the DPS. UPDATE: 18/10/2024 The DBS awarded my son all his deposit monies back plus interest. Martin and Co DID support my son in saying the flat was clean. I have upgraded the stars rating to 5. As they handled my dissatisfaction and supported the truth. To the former landlord, shame on you. You greedy ****! To others when leaving a property. Clean up, take photos and video. 😀

Dear Mark, I am very sorry you were upset by the way your son's tenancy ended. We arrange for an independent clerk to attend the property once a tenant has vacated and they report on the overall condition in comparison to the day of the tenants move in. Sometimes they report a clean is required. This does not mean the tenant did not look after the property or pay their rent on time. I do understand why you may feel we did not appreciate the value of your son's exemplary conduct during his tenancy. It is always a great pleasure to have a good tenant and we try to work with everyone to make them comfortable in their new home.
