they avoid you personally if you have an issue they dont want to deal with. they avoided my phone calls, 10 seconds after i tried from a different number and they picked up. they also lost documents and blamed us.
Don't believe the good reviews as I suspect they are either from members of staff or their family and friends. This lot are rip off merchants through and through. I wouldn't trust them to run a bath. Avoid !
They Deserve ZERO RATING I have been extremely disappointed with the property management service provided by John Shepherd. My property was initially managed by Royston & Lund before the company was sold to John Shepherd, and the quality of service has drastically declined since the changeover. There is no direct email contact for the Nottingham office, making communication frustratingly difficult, and my calls have gone unanswered. It's unacceptable to receive such poor service, especially when dealing with something as important as property management. I would never recommend them to anyone. Avoid at all costs!

I don't leave reviews very often but John Shepherd West Bridgford deserve one. I am absolutely disgusted with this unregulated letting market, trying to remove deposit money for 2 small plastic cracks in a fridge freezer and saying they will need to replace both from our deposit money. Furthermore saying they will need to have it re-cleaned despite us paying £180 for two cleaners to spend 3 hours cleaning it professionally. Prior to this when we lived in the flat we had a low water pressure problem which took them over 4 months to fix, they came up with excuse after excuse before finally offering to fix it a few weeks before we moved out (only because we had to get the council involved to sort it). We then moved into another property with them where the oven had not been cleaned (see pictures attached) yet was told it was just cleaning residue. Also the dishwasher that did not work, we were originally told to try to fix it ourselves? Thirdly in our contract it makes reference to a washing machine, yet no washing machine was present and we had to spend hundreds to buy our own. I cannot believe what these agencies try to get away with, I highly doubt they would even replace the fridge and freezer for such a small crack and new tenants who will soon move in, they just want money money money! Disgusting.

However, once I moved in, the service fell apart. I've been chasing them for weeks over a WiFi issue, a simple task of knowing whether external drilling has already been done on my flat prior to moving in so I can set up fibre broadband or if it would be possible to arrange this as I need it for work, and have asked to contact the landlord directly. Every request has been completely ignored or a half hearted reply. I was promised a property manager would take over after moving in, but over a month later, not a word from them. It feels like the person doesn’t even exist. Simple things were overlooked—like not telling me where the gas and electric meters were. Something that basic should’ve been made clear, but I had to figure it out myself. To add to this, we were promised professionally cleaned carpets before moving in. Surprise, surprise—this didn’t happen. It delayed our entire move by 24 hours and caused major inconvenience, as we had people rearrange their schedules to help us move furniture. Their communication is so poor. I've sent various emails to multiple people in their so-called “team” with zero responses for over two weeks. Good luck getting anyone on the phone, no one ever seems to answer. As you can tell from other reviews, I’m not alone in my issues with them- I just wish I’d have looked at them properly myself before viewing their listings.
