An absolute nightmare.
Would not recommend anyone to come here absolute frauds if I could I would give them a lower rating
Absolute disgrace. We lived in a flat for a year and for 7 of those months we had mould (through the winter can I just point out). Due to this being a problem with the building the landlord was responsible for getting it sorted and through no fault of her own was struggling with this as it was factors that maintained the actual building itself (APEX another joke for another review). However we were left with coughs, colds and I struggled with my asthma which I've never had to use an inhaler for years for. We also had a week with no electricity due to this damp which left us with a full freezer and fridge of food we had to chuck out and replace out our own pockets. Then an electrician or whoever Martin and co sent put a hole in our bedroom wall and removed the socket there resulting in us losing this Heater for the whole winter. We left on what we thought was good terms considering the crap we had put up with and given them time to sort. We left the place immaculate with nothing but two doors valued at £50 for both and a broken mirror which came off the wall and hurt my boyfriends foot as he tried to gently tighten it to the wall which it was lossely hanging from and they trying to charge us £90 for cleaning and £185 for damages!!! Absolute joke you try to be so nice and understanding and thats what they hit you with... I can tell you its not happening. over my dead body are they robbing us of money we need, I'll be fighting this you thiefs.
Travelled 370 miles to view a property that I'd agreed to view after speaking with them, only to arrive at the agents to be told it's already got an occupier, with excuse after excuse for not contacting us.
My experience with this branch of Martin and co was disgraceful from start to finish. How they get away with the way they treat their customers and the lack of help they give is beyond me. Was a tenant with them for over a year and they couldn’t have been more unhelpful if they tried. Any time we had a problem is was a minimum of two weeks before anyone would physically come out to the flat and that was after numerous phone calls from ourselfs to chace them up as they never stuck to their word and got in contact with us. However this only happened when we needed them. When they need something they were more than able to pick up the phone, let just say bothersome is a nice way to put it. They were very pushy and we’re not very forth coming. They would leave us feeling let down and stressed about situations that could be sorted within minutes. Then when we left it took 4 weeks to get our deposit back. Saying there was going to be a claim on the deposit, sending us pictures of someone else’s garden telling us we hadn’t done the upkeep of it. Once told we were willing to go to the small claims court due to the disgraceful service we had the deposit back within 24 hours. I can’t warn people enough, do not use them! Please think very carefully before doing so because they make renting with them literal hell. Unhelpful, disrespectful and a disgrace of a company.
AVOID - flat had no heating, no hot water and was so dirty there were dead flies everywhere. Didn't even change the bin for me moving in. Staff are rude and unhelpful. Take weeks to action anything and claim they "didn't get the email" which they sent a reply to. So many problems they have no interest in fixing but I'm still being charged full rent. HORRIBLE COMPANY
UK's worst letting agent! When my partner and I rented a flat from Martin&Co the condition they handed the flat over in was disgusting. They had not cleaned the flat and the coffee ring and crumbs from the previous tenant (who moved out 2 weeks prior) where still all over the kitchen worktops. Dog hair was everywhere and the over state of the flat was overall poor. And they actually had the cheek to claim £60.00 for cleaning when I left the flat spotless! For the full duration of our lease we were left with a unpainted living room door which I got numerous splinters from, we were advised that this would be painted prior to us moving in as it was just replaced due to damage from the previous tenant, this frustratingly was never done and even more annoying was the fact that the manager kept insisting the door was finished even though we sent numerous photos and it was more than obvious that he was lying - which became a current occurrence for all the Martin&Co team. Martin&Co do constant home visits which they state are for the "benefit of the tenant and the landlord" however you do not get any feedback on these visits and they are very inconvenient for someone who works 8 - 5 mon to Fri. I told Martin&Co that for every I want to be present as I have pets and I didn't want their staff to disrupt or upset them. I agreed a time (12:00) with the agent for a home visit back in August last year only to find out that the Agent had let themselves in at 11:30 after me specifically arranging a time to meet. The worst part of this is that the agent didn't even have the decency to phone me and let me know that they had been to the property so I was left sitting in the property until half 2 that afternoon before getting any information from the paisley office. Also there was mould in the flat due to a structural defect in the building which caused damage to furniture and clothes. I requested and provided back up of £300.00 to cover the cost of the furniture and Martin&Co have refused to pay even though the building defect is there responsibility. I have reported to the property ombudsman and this is still on-going. Overall the staff are rude and unhelpful. I would recommend to avoid at all costs. I was unfortunate I did not read the reviews online prior to agreeing the lease which I now extremely regret. Lesson learned as I have had plenty of pleasant experiences with other letting agents and landlords in the past. I would recommend if you find a property by Martin&Co that you like then use rightmove to find an alternative letting agent in the surrounding area or even visit the area to see if there are any private landlords adverting locally.
