The worst estate agency I have ever dealt with. Very unprofessional and customer service is beyond poor. One of their agents never turned up for a property viewing, I kept ringing their agency and they did not answer my call. He had my contact details, yet he did not have the decency to give me a call to rearrange or apologise for not turning up. I would give them 0 star rating, if I could.
I put in a genuine reasonable offer to rent from one of their listed properties and never received any reply. No answer or communication, totally unprofessional. I guess I should have read the reviews first. My advice to both landlords and tenants, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID...They choose their clients to suit their own commission and profit needs with no consideration, respect or loyalty towards both landlord and tenant.
Absolutely shocking company. Eager to let the property and get you in. When I checked out I had to go to the Branch after two weeks to chase the check out report. This then took another two weeks to receive. They then said they are deducting £150 for a 'deep clean' that was required and sent a few photos. I requested the check in photos as the property was thoroughly cleaned before I moved out. Had to then chase again to get the check-in photos sent and advised that I would go to the deposit ombudsman scheme. I was advised that before that I would need to follow the internal complaints procedure, which involves two internal reviews before I can go to the ombudsman. I then suggested that this would take another one or two months and the person at the other end of the phone cheerfully said yes, knowing that my deposit could therefore be held up for at least that length of time. ****I would NOT recommend this company at all.****
I would not recommend this agency to anybody. We made the mistake of trying to rent a property using John Shepherd only backed out after realising how ridiculously overcharged and ripped off we were being. Their fees are disgusting. And they kept all of our money that they had (unfortunately for us) already taken even though it was not possible that they done ANYTHING in the time it took us realise what was happening. I feel taken advantage of and would like to request people to avoid this company at all costs. AWFUL.
The agent (Drew) was very attentive whilst we were viewing the place and soon after we rented the flat we were totally ignored by the agents. The flat came with few light bulbs without working, the fire alarm had no batteries in it and we had a leaking problem that they ignored until the day we moved out. Every time we would pop by the agency to sort these issues they would treat us dismissively and we never got any of our issues for which we reported sorted. Also they charge abusive fees on moving in, contract renewal and even a check out fee. Avoid at all costs!
Awful service. The member of staff we dealt with was rude, argumentative, and arrogant (‘this is Solihull so we don’t have to try to sell...’ attitude). Our purchase was delayed. Our solicitor continually commented on how difficult they were to deal with - simple requests such as ‘please fax the relevant documents’ were put in the standard post which delayed things further. Would’ve been easier if we had dealt with the seller directly as there was so much miscommunication. Manager’s response to our letter of complaint was dismissive and patronising. Avoid this company if you want a smooth, pleasant transaction between buyer and seller. Worst house purchase ever considering we’ve bought and sold 8 properties over the years the past 20 years.
DO NOT USE. We made the BIG mistake of placing our property with this company for let on their Full Managed option. When we took our property back from the tenants we found the place to be filthy, it stunk and there was loads of easily visible damage that was NOT picked up on the final tenants walkout inspection by this company’s representative. I can only surmise that on the day this representative was having a bad day, or maybe did the walkout over the phone to save time. Just wish I had read the reviews on this company first before trusting them with our property. I now wouldn’t trust them or recommend them to manage an old garden shed. LANDLORDS BEWARE!!!
Absolutely appalling service and would never touch this group of individuals with a barge pole. I have a number of properties i currently let out and thankfully use another agent, however i had to make contact with their property management dept when a property that they currently manage was leaking water into my own flat that i live in below. Appalling rude members of staff who slammed the phone down on me twice when i was obviously stressed because of the damage the water was causing. The dept manager was completely useless and i have had 4 days of water damage and now i have instructed the managing agents to take over and deal with this and any costs incurred will be sent over to them! Steer clear and go to another agent who care, are proactive and helpful which this company are most certainly not !!!!!!
Very poor service from the Birmingham City office. We've now dealt with 4 agents within 4 months for very simple fixtures (high turnover). They fail to return calls often or are very slow to respond to any issues in the apartment resulting in more expenses for the tenant (the energy). Our energy was suppose to be between 35-57GBP, and utilizing only a little TV, fridge, boiler, NO HEATER, cell phone and laptop charger, and hardly every cooking we spend nearly 200GBP per month on energy. I definitely won't be recommending them and I can't wait for this terrible tenancy to be over. It has been a VERY COLD nightmare! After speaking to the manager about the energy and how I'm cold living here, she had the nerve to tell me that I should turn on a heater. Not to mention how dirty the place was when I moved in! Not even a basic wiping was done. Lastly, the manager still didn't find anything wrong with their service....after 4 months of ongoing "simple" issues.
Appear personable. 1 star only given, because our solicitors tell us that they did not carry out important instructions at time of completetion. Why this happened I don't know. John Sheperds have not even responded with a full explanation, the only response was from one of their sales persons. I would not use them again.
