Rented an apartment from them for 2 years, had the curtain rail fall off the wall just missing my 1 and 2 year old! massive holes in the walls, mould around all windows and on walls had to spray them at least 2 times per week from September till May, stains on all carpets living room bedrooms and hall ways, cracks in the bath panel and mould in the tiles round the bath. Moved out 01/11/2020 this is when it all happens! they have taken more than 10 days for my deposit, apparently someone was off on annual leave - surely another worker should take on there work? i have a bill for a cleaner as there was dust on the skirting board (they done the check out 1 week after i moved out so bound to be) i have already sent them the cleaners certificate confirming the apartment was deep cleaned, i have also a bill for cleaning the chairs (again cleaned by my cleaner) they are also trying to bill me for mattresses for the beds i didn't use and stored in the garage as per the landlord and they we full of mould and rats when i went to put them back i called landlord as didnt want to spoil the nice clean carpet i had just paid for. he advised this was ok but now JS are trying to make me pay for them....errr no landlord knew his garage was not secure or air tight so bound to happen sorry. i have not had a thank you for getting the stains from the carpet as my cleaner managed to get them all out and on the check out there is no mention of the 'old' stains?!?!?! also i have filled the holes left by the falling curtain rail and painted so it looks brand new STEER CLEAR i will be writing this same review on every available platform as they do not deserve your money!!!

Worst letting agents I've ever experienced. Unprofessional, would enter the flat without proper notice, would just make up inspection dates that changed in time and frequency every year. When we had an issue with the boiler they didn't want to know and said it wasn't their responsibility (luckily we had great landlords who contacted us directly). Made the silly mistake of looking for our next rental property with them and, despite being told we had a private viewing, we were bundled in with 6 other couples and then the woman from John Shepherd showing us round forgot the keys for the place we were supposed to see - shambles. Since leaving I have been copied into confidential emails about current tenants which is not only shambolic, but a breach of GDPR.
Poor customer service and poor communication. Left a viewing without telling us as we were a few minutes late due to traffic completely out of our control!
Shocking Moved in to a house in Austin close lovely place we fitted new shower however we had major issue with boiler they tried to palm us off saying it was not landlady’s responsibility As we had fitted a brand new 300 power shower We had carpets cleaned we looked after the property and were looking to make it long term However landlady decided she wanted to sell Her perogative We were assured by Nancy that they would endeavour to find us somewhere else This did not happen they never got back or offered any assistance what so ever Then to top it off they then charged us for carpet cleaning and garden Even though the lady who came and did inspection agreed it was In a perfectly acceptable condition DO NOT rent through this shoddy lying Greedy agency They were very forthcoming in collecting rent but once we were given notice were not interested at all in assisting us Shameful and shocking
If you rent a property through this company make absolutely sure you take your own photos of the property and go through their inventory with a toothpick as when you come to leave you will be charged for everything that even has a speck of dust on it even if it was dirty when you moved in. I also had to wait weeks for a fob to open the gates to the carpark even though I was paying for secure parking. I was charged 210.00 for cleaning even though the place had been cleaned well and was FAR CLEANER than when I moved in. The an extra 60.00 for a 'checking out fee' Basically DO NOT expect your deposit back. They even charged for the clock battery and one light bulb even though I had relaced all the rest with new and left spares!! Cheeky! Fair play though. Great money making scam. Maybe someones mum is the 'cleaning services' they use!!
I have called the agency three times. A gentleman took my name and the number, told me that they will call me back. He said the same thing each time I phoned ' I got all the details I will call you back'. When i called the property yesterday. Opps, it is already rented. Seriously? Then why you did you misinform me? I wouldn't work with this agency. I have read many negative comments and i also felt the vibe of lacking the sense of responsibility and organizing.
Absolutely shocking agents. Rented a property from them. Carpets were filthy Holes in bath tank leaking. Windows all damaged mold in bathroom and to bedroom huge crack in another bedroom... was told all would be done. Stupid me signed the agreement didnt do any off the work. I painted the hole house. 1 bedroom was only half painted before I gave up, as didnt finish the painting they took £170 out off deposit even tho painted the rest off house. Charged me £10 for 2 bulbs when half didnt work when moved in. Also charged me £50 to clean carpets what were filthy b4 moved in They dont care about tenants all interested in is taking your money plz if you read this stay away from john shephard
