Money orientated and regimental letting agency with belittling attitude: - hefty moving in fee - repeated fees for every contract extension (only effort involved is changing a date on the previous paperwork) - after initial first year, every extension needs to be for another 12 months with no earlier exit possible without paying full 12 months rent - compulsory for tenant to take out and pay for additional 'tenants liability insurance' policy - moving out fee - final inspection visit done by external company whose fees need to be paid by tenant
Terrible. Three hours late to a viewing and didn't apologise or call up to give me notice. Just kept on saying we'll be there in 5 minutes. Then said that my offer for a place was accepted and only after I had stopped looking for other places told me that it was a mistake and it wasn't actually accepted. Signed on to live at another place and moved in without the furnishings that was promised and had to wait a month for it. Currently living there with a broken window that I notified them about four months and ago and nothing has been done about it yet. Terrible. UPDATE: The window still remains broken despite constant reminders. It has now been more than a year...

Mike mentioned £130 for move out. I just add that they charge £240 for move in. Indeed, modern day pirates. Also, they show no concern or sympathy to students. If you're intl student or manual worker or single parent, even worse. If you're vulnerable or ignorant of rent market rules, it's your fault, not theirs. Best properties always go to those privileged and those who have first-hand info. They don't care about your being desperate to find a new home.

We have had a really bad experience when it came to ending our tenancy in respect of getting the deposit back. It seemed that some charges were fabricated and others were unfair. When challenged we got a reduction but only as either gestures of goodwill or being, 'let off'. I simply wanted an honest and open breakdown of costs with invoices which we never got.The staff were either rude, slippery or even intimidating. Avoid! In response to the agents comments. To be specific: Why was the flat filthy and with junk that previous tenants left behind? Why on departure were we initially charged for throwing away said junk? Why did they expect us to pay for a Professional Clean when we left it better than found? ( the clean went beyond what the exit check specified and let's be clear it was talking about polishing taps!) Why did Max say we had broken FIVE toilet seats? Why did Max get me to send in quotes for carpet cleaning? I ASKED FOR INVOICES detailing any repairs showing proportionality despite having asked - If the agent sent them to me I'd like them to provide proof. The reductions we got were either being 'let off' or as 'gestures of good will'. I settled with them because it wasn't a great amount of money and it wasn't worth the stress. I don't mind paying for things but I like to know what I'm paying for. Why should the landlady pay for the reductions they made.- was Breckon and Breckons bad management. My complaint was more about getting a transparent and honest breakdown of charges rather than gestures of good will or being let off. It's about fairness and integrity but I don't think Breckon and Breckon understood this. Non of the queries I mentioned above were addressed. One quote as an example of the rudeness I encountered was. ' look if I've told you once I've told you three times.' I think the problem is endemic.
£130 fee for the pleasure of moving out at the end of the tenancy. Modern day pirates.
