I have had a disappointing experience with Martin & Co. On completion of my 7 year tenancy, I promptly completed the DPS form and released the deposit to the landlord. However a week later, both myself and my guarantor were contacted by the Head of Lettings at Martin & Co Wanstead who said the landlord was growing impatient and threatening legal action. He had failed to check that the funds had already been released and were sitting in Martin & Co’s account, inconveniencing myself, the landlord and my guarantor unnecessarily. Despite the response below, nobody has spoken to me on the phone to explain/apologise/resolve this issue. It’s really disappointing to be treated in this way.

Good Afternoon Billie, I believe our lettings manager has spoken to you on the phone about the issues that you have raised and as you are aware the Landlord had us instructed as a tenant find only 7 years ago, we dealt with your viewing, your references and providing you with the property in question as accepted by the landlord, we do not manage the property, therefore during your 7 year tenancy your correspondence and issues would have been through your Landlord direct. Been nothing but a perfect tenant and get shafted in the end!

Mr Ali, Good Morning, If you are who we think you are, we are sorry that you feel this way. However, there were a few issues at the end of the tenancy that necessitated some small deductions from the deposit. Which your Landlord proposed. You disputed these, which is your right. The disputes went to the DPS dispute resolution service for their independent adjudication. They looked at all the evidence provided and ruled in the majority with the Landlord and awarded accordingly. Very unfair to be giving us a 1 star review, this was not our decision but in fact the DPS, I do feel your 1 star review is not justified in this instance and would ask that you either take this review down or at least recognise the impact this has on our business and in response to my reply please consider your review. I was a tenant of Martin&co had many issues with them they It will take several weeks to always resolve issues within the house. Ie boiler,leaks etc I wouldn't Recommend them to anyone, not honest. Not fair and not reasonable.

Firstly they give you nice welcome and after when you do check out they try to rip you off as much as they can and they can charge you 5 pound for light bulb and plus they use unreliable third party check out company which can mess up your check out report and you can owe them lots of money!!! AVOID ALL COST!! FIND SOME PLEACE BETTER!!!

After viewing a property from the Wanstead office, I was the first to an offer in writing. The Wanstead Branch Manager replied that he'll get back once he hears back from the vendor. 10 days later, the property is marked sold. In that period, I called the office several times, it is near impossible to get through to the office as they are heavily under staffed. I never got a callback or an email reply. I was willing to match the asking price, but the agent did not engage with me at all and was quite difficult to get hold of. If you are thinking of selling a property via this agent, think twice because they are not interested in achieving the best price for the client, they are just interested in getting a sale and counting the commission - they have their own interest and not that of their client at heart. In Wanstead area, Stow Brothers and Petty Son and Prestwich are much better agents.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

A very unprofessional letting agent from Martin & Co Wanstead ,he booked me for viewing two flats via email & phone ,I took my day off and I travelled 1 hour and 30 minutes to Wanstead , However he didn't turn up to the given addresses .Even worse ,when I called him ,he told me that the viewing was cancelled without notifying me , he tried to justify that he left a voice message for me ,which I cound not find on my phone . Honestly, I didn't expect such a horrible service and unprofessionalisme from a big company like Martin & Co .I was totally disappointed and he made my day awful and horrendous.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Repeatedly left messages to enquire about a property with no response from the team. I have previously enquired about another property and it eventually got sold . i do find the estate agents will only entertain your enquiries /discussions if they like you. They don't like answering direct questions and always seem to beat around the bush. The last property that I enquired, the lady that contacted me did not seem interested at all and this time around after leaving repeated messages, i still have not received a phone call yet. I have even sent an e-mail today as the call centre staff said that they are probably busy but in the interim the property is off the list. Highly unprofessional so far with the experience i have had with them.NegativeResponsiveness
