Sold our house through Cooke and co recently. When Nigel came out to value the property he spent a long time telling us all about how they would go the extra mile to help us and how he would personally help with the negotiations throughout the chain if we needed it. In reality he stopped answering texts and calls within a week of us signing the contract with them. The time I did manage to speak to him the advice he gave me directly contradicted what his sales team said. Most of the staff in the office were polite and friendly however, one particular member of staff could be very abrupt (bordering on rude). I felt very unsupported by Cooke and co and actually had more support from the estate agent of the house we were buying. They also have a deal with a local (and very good) solicitor which means if you sell through Cooke and co and want to use this firm you end up paying substantial referrers fees. This was not made clear to us on signing up. In short they sold our house quickly but did nothing to make the process feel smooth or easy and the staff could be difficult to deal with. Given that they charge significantly more than other estate agents in the area I would have expected more from them.

TERRIBLE

Recently I bought a house through this company and I have to say it was the most unenjoyable experience I have ever had. From the day we asked for a viewing which we weren’t told was an open house viewing and the estate agent who was at the house for the viewing was terrible and unhelpful. But unfortunately we wanted the house so we had to carry on. From the moment my offer was excepted I was hounded for proof of funds and threatened to lose the deal if it wasn’t received that day. After everything was finalised while waiting for the keys I asked to get into the house with a plasterer to quote for some work. A lady turned up to let us in and then ushered us out after a few minutes. The tradesman didn’t have time to look at everything he needed to and couldn’t price the job. Picking the keys up topped it off for me no care or attention taken I was just handed a crumbled envelope with the keys in while they checked my ID. Very shocked and disappointed with this agent.

REAL BAD.

Viewed a property with Nigel Cooke on a Monday, and put an offer in of £2k over the asking price. Nigel called me the next morning to say he had talked through with the vendor and if we were to up the offer by £1,000 the offer would be accepted. We did that and the offer was accepted, I happily went off to arrange the mortgage and gather paperwork, as directed by Cooke & Co. We signed up to their recommendation for conveyancing and solicitor too. All good. The next day I get a call from Claire to tell us that 'the vendor has accepted another offer from another buyer'. Alarm bells ringing now. 'How can this happen Claire? You told me yesterday they had accepted my offer, and the property was taken off the market.''Well Mr Robson, we acted in your best interest. Sorry Claire, how is selling the property to another person in my best interest when you told me my offer was accepted yesterday? Well Mr Robson, this can happen all they way up to exchange.' Just be honest.

Really bad experience with

Really bad experience with Cooke & Co. Seen a property on a Monday, had our offer accepted the next day by the vendor after a bit of negotiating. Got a call from Claire on the Thursday to say they had sold it to someone else!! This is after Cooke & Co sent us all the requirements to get the paperwork together, we even had the Solicitor they recommended (Mincoffs) for conveyancing. The offer we put forward for the property was based on the vendor taking the property off the market, which is what was agreed. All of this after Nigel Cooke himself telling us (in the property we were buying) how they don't get involved in that type of behaviour etc... I can only describe their behaviour as being like a used car salesman. How they get away with this type of behaviour is incredible!!!

Worst estate agent in the north east

Trying to get them to show up to a viewing is too hard for this estate agents sorry I'll rephrase they won't bother to turn up or call you if they have had a offer on a property. Shocking I will never even view a property with this agent and I certainly wouldn't trust them to sell my house.

Disgusting behaviour I called

Disgusting behaviour I called on Saturday to make a viewing was told the earliest they had was Thursday at 4.45 they booked it under the wrong name apparently never took down my number despite the fact I've given it on 3 now 4 occasions. They made me take an afternoon off work and then didn't even bother to turn up as they had sold it and apparently sent an email not good enough no common decency at all even if i couldn't buy it I would expect them to turn up if they haven't bothered to tell you, could have waited ages good job I called them. Disgusting do not use.

Bad customer service

I never been so disappointed in this estate agents. There rude and unhelpful and don't know how to do there jobs. For buyer do not go to this estate agents as they don't know what there talking about. They mess you around and they are only interested in money for them self. Buyer beware don't go to this estate agent. A joke
