We had a property that was fully managed by Martin & Co. in Harborne. They told us they would have the property visits and send us the reports, we had to chase these so call reports on several occasions. Also issues wasn't mention in most reports, it is just a tick list. After tenants have left they advised us tenant has left the property in an 'acceptable condition' when we visit the property the carpet smell of wee with stains everywhere, stickers on all surfaces that we can see, condensation in living room and bedroom (gas central heating is in good working order), Kitchen draws all broken and cuts including kitchen worktops (this was a brand NEW kitchen when tenant moved in), and rubbish left inside and outside the property that filled nearly a full skip. When we spoken to the agent and questioning these issues, they just want the landlord to release full deposit back to tenants, like it was the landlord fault that the tenants has left the property in a bad state. When we as the landlord paid all this fees for our rental property to be look after by staff that is not helpful at all. We would not recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a decent letting agent. Now they will come up with some excuse, 'oh its the tenants....' or 'oh we have try our best...' we shall see what they say.

Hi Elton, Apologies that you had to chase us to receive the management visit reports. The tenants didn't leave the property in a very good state and the check out report carried out by the third party inventory company picked up these issues. We haven't advised that the tenants left the property in an acceptable condition as this is not the case and we are currently making a claim from the tenants deposit for cleaning carpets and the other issues. I believe this is all now in hand but if there's anything else I can do please give me a call on 0121 427 2020. Regards, Raj Bedi (Director)

We've been living in a flat rented by Martin & Co Harborne. Everything was ok when we were living there. The big problem started when the contract finished. The company did the check out and they verified that everything was correct. They said to us everything was ok and that they needed to communicate it to the landlord to return the deposit. We still waiting for after 3 weeks!!!! And we trying to contact with few Martin&Co's workers and no one answer us. It is shameful... When we rented the flat they were very quick to make documents and we had to pay them but now that they are the ones who have to give us back the money nobody answers us. Very disappointed with them I hope to have a solution soon or I will have to report it.

I have a been a tenet for last few years and it's absolutely disgraceful. To get simple things sorted you need to chase them many times and eventually give up. Can't wait to leave them.

absolute trash of a company - landlords and tenants, save yourself some money and work with someone else as they only want your money. Disgusting people

Hi Charlotte, we don't have any record of you having ever dealt with our company. As your negative review was posted within 1 minute of another negative review by Natalie P Morin who again we have had no dealings with, we believe that these reviews are from a competitor or someone with another agenda. I have therefore reported the review to Google as being fake.

Awful experience so far. The leasing agent who showed us our property told us the garage was part of the agreement; however it was not. The property was in a horrific condition when we moved in and had not been cleaned properly. When the electric shower stopped working three days ago we filled out their online maintenance form, but did not hear from them until we called them today to chase up on it. They told us an electrician would come today around 5:30pm to fix it, then called at that time to let us know he would come no later than 6:30pm. He has not showed up and we are late for an engagement. Unacceptable and unprofessional customer service.

Hi Gloria, apologies about us not getting back to you quick enough about the problem with your shower. Unfortunately we had an issue with our online reporting system for a couple of days which meant we were not receiving the maintenance issues being logged by tenant over that period. Also I understand that the electrician eventually came at 7pm so he was 90 mins late, which isn't fair on you and I apologise for the inconvenience this caused you. I hope that moving forward everything goes more smoothly. If it doesn't for any reason then please call me directly and I will do all I can to sort it. Regards, Raj Bedi (Director)

I do not rate Martin and Co highly at all. We attempted to sell our 3 bed semi detached house through them last year and found they were pushing it mainly to investors when it was an ideal purchase for first time buyers. After 16 weeks and no sale (during a period when houses around us were selling fast) we were disappointed and fed up especially as we kept getting phone calls telling us an offer was on the cards but yet one never came to fruition. We then went with Purple Bricks and sold in four days to first time buyers. Also, staff were not very helpful and there seemed to be someone different dealing with our sale every time we called them. Perhaps they are better geared up as a letting agent.

Dear Marianne, I'm sorry that you feel we didn't do a good job in selling your house. We had your property on the market for just under 10 weeks and had lots of interest with around 40 viewings. Although we had 3 offers a bit below the asking price, we couldn't achieve the price that you were hoping for. Having looked at the land registry you sold for £1,250 more than the highest offer we got for you. Unfortunately we just fell a little bit short in getting you the price that you wanted. At the time I took your feedback on board about there being too many different staff dealing with your property and as a result we now dedicate just one or two staff to oversee a sale so that each client has the same point of contact throughout. I do disagree with your comment that we are better geared up as a letting agent, as although we are well know for our very successful lettings department, it is our sales department that won "The Sunday Times & The Times" Midlands Estate Agency of the Year 2015 Silver Award. Thank you for your constructive feedback and I hope all is well in your new property. Regards, Raj Bedi

I was a tenant with Martin and Co for about 9 months. Overall, they were quiet unreliable and do not take care of tenants very well. If you raise a complaint about something they tend to ignore it. They did improve towards the end, but they can do with improving the service for tenants and taking an interest in the concerns.

Reply from agent

Dear Sherif, sorry to hear that you felt our service could have been better. Please could call me on 0121 427 2020 as it would be useful for me to know where you felt we could have improved. I am glad that things did get better toward the end of your tenancy. Regards, Raj

Disgusting agency! Boiler still not fixed after 3 days we moved in! As soon as they got money from you, they dont care about any problems! Stay away from that agency, veey unprofessional, the house is incomplete after repairs, handles broken, walls half painted, not recommended

Dear Tarass, I have checked our records and we don't to seem to have any record of you as a tenant in one of our properties managed by the Martin & Co Harborne office. Please could you call our office on 0121 427 2020 and we can try and locate the correct Martin & Co office for you.
