I recently had a short term tenancy in a professional house share managed by Martin & Co and I was really disappointed with the service I received throughout my time dealing with them. Initially after paying the deposit and admin fee to secure the room the cost of the monthly rent was randomly increased as per the landlords request. This was really frustrating as the price of rent was already at the top of my budget and I found increasing the cost after I had made a commitment, based on the originally advertised price, to be very unprofessional. During my tenancy Martin & Co were very slow and sometimes unresponsive when it came to fixing any maintenance issues with the property. Anytime I did call the office to report problems the staff were generally quite rude & lacked decent customer service skills. When the tenancy ended and the final inspection was complete I waited over 4 weeks for the deposit to be released back to me despite frequently chasing the issue. Again during this period the customer service was really poor and no urgency was shown to get things sorted. Overall, not an estate agent I would recommend & I hope if anyone does use Martin & Co they have a better experience than me.
Actually no stars at all! From the bunch of lies we were told on our viewing to the length of time for all the repairs.... Our property Manager has been dealing with things fairly well but they do need landlord’s confirmation to do things. We have been massively unlucky with that too! We have been through a ridiculous referencing system, dealt with some impolite members of their staff and the one we assumed is the right person to deal with our offer, gave us all sort of empty promises about the things that were supposed to be done in the house before we move in. I had to report over 10 maintenance issues in week one and they started the maintenance weeks after they were raised. Generally, even if you like a property looking at the photos, check the agency and if it was this particular one, just forget about it. So Disappointed with them 👎👎👎

All good before and during the tenancy, after however, when it came to the deposit return (surprise surprise) - absolutely awful. Every email I sent was ignored or took a month for them to respond, and when they did, they ignored every point I made! Most estate agents will work with their customer to compromise and prevent disputes being taken to court, but Martin & Co don't seem to care. If you are renting with Martin & Co, just be aware that they charge £120 cleaning costs no matter how minor the job is. I had to pay £120 because I forgot to empty the washing machine draw! They stated it needed a 'general clean' even though it is clear in the pictures this was the only thing not clean. When I argued this price was too steep, my reasonings were completely ignored and I was told 'we have a contract with the company and use only them'. I googled cleaning services and could have got the job done for a tenner. Ridiculous
Would give 0 if I could. Have been a tenant in a rented property for over 2.5 years with these, and there's been a constant catalogue of errors that are frankly laughable. From giving my number to contractors after I've moved out, to taking over a week to fix a boiler and calling about a repair a year after initially reported and fixed (genuinely), they are by far the WORST agency I've ever dealt with. Not at all transparent with fees, ignore emails and even manage to screw up returning deposits by sending too much and asking me to return some. Laughable, nightmare and absolutely thrilled to not have to deal with this company again. AVOID.

The worst agency ever. Agents irresponsible and have no clue what are they doing at all. Only thing that we needed was to add one more tenant on our current contract. We applied two months ago, paid 500£ a month ago (which is ridiculous amount of money to add one tenant on a contract) and it is not settled yet. We've been in agency at least 5 times, we're calling every other day and every time we get different agent who has no idea what are we talking about. Because of their ignorance my fiancee cannot apply for NIN, cannot make bank account and cannot do anything in this country. When you see Martin & Co I sincerely recommend you to run! Ridiculous!
WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I booked a flat while i was abroad and when i came back i saw a double bed with king mattress! The carpets in the rooms are F I L T H Y., the desk in the room is broken. I am 12 days in the flat and the fridge is not working ! 12 DAYS! I call every single day and they dont do nothing! My letter box has a code, from the first day i was asked for the code and i am still waiting (i explained them that i am student and in the letter box is a letter from the student financial and if i dont sign it, i will drop out) and every single day i hear the same excuses we will call you back and guess what? They never call back. They are the most unprofessional company that i have ever see! Please be careful from this company!
We've been living in a flat rented by Martin & Co Harborne. Everything was ok when we were living there. The big problem started when the contract finished. The company did the check out and they verified that everything was correct. They said to us everything was ok and that they needed to communicate it to the landlord to return the deposit. We still waiting for after 3 weeks!!!! And we trying to contact with few Martin&Co's workers and no one answer us. It is shameful... When we rented the flat they were very quick to make documents and we had to pay them but now that they are the ones who have to give us back the money nobody answers us. Very disappointed with them I hope to have a solution soon or I will have to report it.
