My and my friend were renting a flat and after two years decided to end the tenancy contract. We provided the professional cleaning as per contract and left the house in really good condition (this is confirmed by the fact the house is been rented again after a few days we left - less then a month). After been chasing the agency several times we received the deposit back after 3 months (via a dispite)!!! The agency told me they were unable to contact the landlord, which sounds strange to me as they managed to sign another contract for the property. I have investigated myself via the deposition protection scheme on the government website and I contacted the TDS customers service, which both stated that the deposit it should be released in 10 days. Furthermore, yesterday I have been contacted by a property manager ACCUSING us that we did not pay the last 12 days of rent and asking for a proof: we had to sent a bank statement! Is that possible that they realised we did not pay after 3 months? The manager told me she tryed to contact myself and my housemate for 3 months and we NEVER reply to their phone calls: strange as we contact them for 3 months for the deposit and we sent many e-mails we no reply!!! I already sent an e-mail to the customer service and they told me they were going to investigate but so far I did not received a feedback yet! I have been renting houses with other professional agencies and I never been treated this way. I discussed this with other people dealing with Chancellors in Oxford and they have been having really bad experiences regarding the end of tenancy and the return of deposit. NOT RACCOMENDED!

This has got to be the worst Estate Agents out there. Not only do they lie with ease, forget they had told the same lie before and then repeat it a year later, if you want to rent property from them....please watch out. We rented a house from these Estate Agents in Bracknell about 1 year ago. You would not believe it but on the day we were supposed to move into the said property........we arrived to find items of previous occupants strewn all over the place, filth and waste and uncleared rubbish, etc. Not only did we have to force these agents to clean up the property but in the process they lost keys to the property and we could not move in for 10 days! When we did move in there were still blocked sinks and uncleared rubbish and so much destroyed in the property that we kept having to call to have fixed. Even after moving out of the property a year later the ordeal still did not end......these agents tried to swindle us of as much money as they could......something about paying inventory clerk extra and refusing to release any part of deposit until we had to make a complaint with the Deposit Scheme. Avoid at all costs, very unethical set of people. You would expect better from a bigger company but unfortunately not

BEWARE of their absolutely ludicrous contracts when selling, we were first time sellers have been trapped in for the last 6 months with a hidden extra 28 days bonus. - A bad experience from start to finish ranging from bookings continually not showing up, to the estate agents bringing the wrong keys and unable to even get in. Amateur at best and a steep learning curve.

Might just be the Saturday staff but we showed up for our first viewing expecting to meet one of the staff. There was no one there so the owner stsrtst to show us around and when an agent showed up it happened to just be by coincidence and that he wasn't avtiactu supposed to be there. It felt very strange. He hardly said a word to us or what his name was. We were then sent off for our second viewing with them where he said his colleague was going to meet us. This guy was clearly hungover and smelt slightly like alcohol and could not be less bothered about showing us the property. And we were supposed to have three viewings with this guy. At the last place we just said we wanted to skip it since we felt that the houses they showed us was not at all what we wanted (we had only shown interest in the first property, the other three were chosen by the estate agent). I have never in my whole life seen anyone getting into his car and leaving as quickly as that guy. He clearly was very happy he didn't have to show us the last property since he failed to tell the owner we weren't going to see it. Safe to say, if a property is for sale by chancellors I will most likely not show interested in it (I've viewed properties with other chancellors offices and had similar experiences) and I would definitely not sell my property with them since they do not send the good sales people out.....

Very dishonest and unprofessional letting agents - possibly the worst of all. They have no clue what they are doing. Being a landlord for 10 years, I have never seen anyone like them and would definitely avoid them at all costs. Unfortunately, I had to learn it the hard way which costed me 2 months rent and loss of personal time chasing rent arrears from a tenant all because of their fault which they agreed to but gone back on it and denied to pay the losses.

during the Six months of our tenancy Chancellors have managed to consistently beat their own low standards of customer service time and time again, frankly it’s been easily the worst experience we have ever had from any company ever, and really considering the competition that is some going. However through an almost dogged determination to screw up even the smallest details their apparently handpicked team of helmet wearing, crayon eating, window licking, retards managed outstanding and amazingly consistent levels of incompetence and rudeness that are in my experience unequaled. To be quite honest almost every interaction with Chancellors was frankly eye wateringly painful, and despite the fact it cost us a considerable sum to move we couldn’t be happier that we will never have to deal with you or your flock of half-witted incompetents again. I have to admit I went through the entire gamut of emotions during the short time we have had to deal with them, starting most obviously with Anger and moving through Confusion, Disenchantment, Disbelief and finally this kind of dazed relief that it’s nearly over, although I am still amazed that they are managing to continue to operate. A quick Google search reveals that I’m clearly not in alone with my view of their “service” here are the First Two links returned when you search on “chancellors estate agents review” http://www.allagents.co.uk/chancellors/ http://www.qype.co.uk/place/832095-Chancellors-Oxford Please also note they are currently ranked 9999 out of 11648 and in my humble opinion that’s too high. Here's hoping you go bust soon! :-)

Deposit Compensation After these people read through the small print, I was utterly amazed to discover what you can claim back from a letting agent !! Even several years after vacating the property 😊
