Get in writing what to expect when moving in - things that were promised were not done

Woeful communication from Country Properties Shefford has led to me looking elsewhere in my property search. Staff appear to be working remotely during this time, but often with rather an inept response to simple queries. I am not sure if this is a one-off or is a more regular occurrence of how the company conducts itself. Landlords be aware that you could be losing out on trustworthy, professional tenants through no fault of your own.

I have received the most appalling and unprofessional service from this company. The first potential buyer pulled out on the day the contracts were signed as they had not been able to raise the purchase price. At no time leading up to this were we made aware of his lack of finance. Once a sale was agreed we were not advised that there were actually four people in the chain and the bottom of the chain had pulled out. Having asked them to market the property they offered no regular updates at all, it was like trying to get blood out of a stone. On requesting an update I was told 1. Your buyer really keen to move 2. Nothing to report 3. Still chasing !! Who and for what?? On telephoning they were 'too busy' to take the call and 'too busy' to return the call. After phoning through the day I emailed and received an out of office message, have gone on holiday!! Towards the end the emails were not personalised, just statements which came across as arrogant and rude With only a few days left before the buyers mortgage offer was due to expire they seemed to wake up to the fact that they needed to do something. I would not recommend from my experience

Took my time to write a covering letter and application for a property, but turned out the property was already let and they had not bothered to remove it off the website. They did not even have the courtesy to reply to my application and let me know the property was already let and still to this day I have had no reply. The only reason I found out is because I called up anonymously asking about the property and was told it's already gone. After that call it was still up for a few days so I made another enquiry (not as myself) and that is when they finally bothered to take the property down. Find this really unprofessional and unkind to just ignore people and not even say thank you for your enquiry but unfortunately the property has already been let, apologies that the website was not up to date, etc. I took hours writing my covering letter and application and all that time had false hope that I potentially found the new home of my dreams only to find out they were just not proactive enough to take it off their own website or Rightmove and Zoopla. Really upsetting and not impressive at all. I am not sure the role of estate agents, but I always thought they were here to help you find a home, so I am just surprised they didn't email back any suggestions of other properties they have or put people on a shortlist of people that are searching for homes. I guess we are all just numbers these days because they probably have a million and one enquiries and no properties. Oh well.

I used to rent a property with country properties. During that time I interacted mainly with Debbie I found the whole experience deeply unpleasant. She seemed more concerned about making money for the landlord than about my experience as a tenant: it made me feel stressed and pressured. I also experienced them as unprofessional due to the lack of service that was available to me - what I mean by service is a welcoming attitude and kind approach, which would make me feel safe and supported to raise any concerns I might have. However, both members of the rental branch - Debbie and Hayley- made me feel I was a burden and every time I spoke on the phone it would be rushed. The usual line was ‘we’re about to go into a meeting’. This caused me much anxiety when I was living in Shefford, I couldn’t wait to move! My view of their behaviour whilst living in one of their properties was just confirmed when I had to call them unexpectedly because I accidentally sent a package to the old address and wondered if there was any way of getting the package to me. If not I enquired into whether it would be possible for them to ask their tenant to hold the package for me or see if I could be sent on. However I was told ‘that wasn’t possible’ and Debbie rushed me off the phone. She wouldn’t even ask for me. How is this a professional service and moreover how is this kind? Is kindness and civility not a part of managing a business for them? It seems not… I’ve dealt with and lived under the care of several different real estate agents and this was by the far the worst! The whole experience of living in a property is defined by the attitude and service real estate agent. Therefore, I wanted to warn future and would strongly recommend trying finding another real estate agent to help you if possible!

Me & my partner dealt with Country Properties Shefford branch in March 2020, during the first major lockdown. Steph and Tayler helped us to find lovely properties and set up lots of viewings for us, we even put in an offer on a house we loved and wanted to buy. However, after having a Comprehensive Survey done the house had lots of issues me and my partner didn’t want to deal with, we then withdrew our offer. We had the right to withdraw our offer as we felt that there was to many different problems with that house. Country Properties were not happy that we withdraw our offer. Having a conversation with Steph, the manager, it was obvious she was livid and tried telling us that we were making a mistake. We kind of felt that she was bullying us not to withdraw. We stood our ground and told her to read the survey report, it stated the house had problems which we felt we didn’t want to take on. Both Steph and Tayler were clearly unhappy with our decision, which then lead to them ghosting us. We asked them to send us more properties, they said they would but never did. Fast forward to 2021, we managed to find our dream house, not through Country Properties, through another agent who acted like adults unlike staff at Country Properties. I wouldn’t recommend Country Properties Shefford, once they saw their commission float through the air after we pulled out of their deal, they spat their dummies out and stopped communicating with us. How childish and unprofessional are they. 👎🏾
