Don’t ever use!!!!! 4 months later and lost my deposit also saying it belongs to my partner. Avoid at all costs. Scammers and cowboys, there’s a fee for everything! DO NOT TRUST MIA SOPHIE or KATHRYN they all lie through their teeth!
Went to a house viewing stood outside in the rain and wind with a baby and no one turned up. Wasted our time. No phone call or anything to say they were gonna be running late or to cancel appointment. When calling the agents multiple times no one answered. 👍 Edit: At Sydney terrace, there was already someone else there waiting over 10 mins for Oliver we waited with them another 20 mins and no one turned up, no one answered the door when knocked on and no one answered the phone, hence we left. Not waiting out in the cold wind and rain with a 20 week old
I HAVE GONE THROUGH ALL THE REVIEWS AND I COMPLETELY AGREE ON THE FOLLOWING THINGS: WORST LETTING AGENTS THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED TILL DATE 1- THEY ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL WHEN IT COMES TO ACKNOWLEDGING OR RESPONDING TO EMAIL, I HAVE TRAILS OF EMAILS WHERE IN THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY RESPONDED WEEKS LATER AND SOMETIMES EVEN MONTHS LATER. 2- THEY WILL SHREWEDLY TAKE AWAY A BIT CHUNK OF YOUR DEPOSIT (SOMETIME THE WHOLE AND EVEN SOME MORE), I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY SOME TO HAVE TAKEN THEM TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT, I NEEDED THE MONEY URGENTLY SO I DID NOT BUT DONT BE BULLIED BY THEM AND IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE BEEN MASSIVELY OVERCHARGED, PLEASE TAKE THAT ROUTE YOU WILL NOT COME OUT BAD. 3- THEY HAVE MENTIONED "UNFORTUNATELY THEY WILL NOT ABLE TO USE THE CONTRACTOR WE HAD REQUESTED", IT IS NOT IN THEIR RIGHTS TO DECIDE WHICH CONTRACTOR THEY CAN GO WITH. ITS ALL A MONEY MAKING BUSINESS. I HAVE A PROOF OF THEIR QUOTATION AND CAN TRAIL BACK WITH THE ACCOUNTS TEAM OF THE CLEANING COMPANY TO CHECK WHAT AMOUNT THEY HAVE RECEIVED AND DIG DEEP, WHICH I WILL BE DOING. 4- AFTER THE FINAL CHECK, WE WERE TOLD ABOUT 3 THINGS FOR WHICH THE DEPOSIT WILL BE USED BUT THEN WHEN THE QUOTATION ARRIVED IT INCLUDED MANY MORE. ITS A SHAME WHAT THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OTHER'S RESOURCES. BAD GOVERNANCE AND NOT BEING BONAFIDE. 5- THEY ALSO CHARGED US FOR EXTRA RENT FOR A DAY. WE GAVE THEM ONE MONTHS NOTICE ON THE 8TH NOV STAYING WE WILL LEAVE ON THE 15TH DEC. BECAUSE 15 TO 15 WAS OUR PAY CYCLE. INSTEAD WE SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN 14TH DEC. THEY CHARGED US FOR 15TH WHEN IN REALITY WE HANDED OVER THE KEYS TO THEM ON THE 13TH ITSELF. WE ONLY HAD AN OPTION TO INCREASE OUR CONTRACT BY 6 OR 12 MONTHS BUT THEY JUST TOOK THAT OPPORTUNITY TO GET 16GBP FOR FREE. IT ABSOLUTELY MAKES NO SENSE. SOPHIE WAS RUDE AND FULL OF FALSE PRIDE ON THE CALL. FINALLY, BE VERY CAREFUL. WE GOT TO KNOW FROM THE MARKET THAT THEY HAVE A BAD REPUTATION AND OFTEN REFERRED TO AS COWBOYS. I DONT WANT TO NAME ANYMORE, BUT THE WHOLE TEAM WAS A NIGHTMARE. THEY WILL IGNORE YOU AND ONLY RESPOND WHEN ITS FOR THEIR BENEFIT. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL. GET IT CLEANED YOURSELF OR SOME AGENCY BUT DONT GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO LOOT YOU. THEY TOOK 222GBP FOR CLEANING FROM US, WHICH WAS REDICULOUS. IN A YEARS TIME THAT TOO JUST IMAGINE WOULD THE OWNER PAY THAT MUCH FOR CLEANING IF HE USED HIS OWN PROPERTY. THEIR CONCEPT OF WEAR AND TEAR IS BROKEN AND NEED THE FLAT JUST AS BRAND NEW. JOKE. THIAGO WAS THE ONLY HOPE, ATLEAST HE RESPONDED TO MAILS AND CALLS.
Do not use! Unprofessional and when help & support is required, you will be met with a hard nose attitude that sides with the landlord. Communication channels are closed, unresponsive and unhelpful.
One star is very generous! But why, you may ask? This estate/letting agents is one of the most difficult companies I think I have every dealt with! Not only, are they non responsive to emails, they also have the the charisma of a damp flannel when you eventually get through! I would even go as far as saying, a toddlers play room would probably have more organisation. The main elephant in the room has to be their attention to detail. When moving into our rental property, not only was it as dusty as a Henry Hoover, the toilet would not flush. Although these issues were dealt with (eventually) it’s still not fantastic customer service considering they had over a month to get the property ship shape. Another key point with Martin and Co Newark is if you have placed a deposit down with them, they will not only try and deducted, they also won’t respond for a good week if you have any questions/problems with them. But, to top things off, after receiving a phone call saying our property has a new tenant, so there will be no more viewings, the following week two people showed up to view the property as it was still for sale. As you are only as good as your last game, or in this case review! They will probably need to make up some more to shun this one down the pecking order to try and gain a better rating. Personally, I would view my experience with Martin and Co Newark as on par with that of The Charge of the Light Brigade when it comes to success.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Unprofessional, immoral, worst of the worst! Since my vocabularies are limited so can’t find any other words to describe their hideousness. Just be careful when you select a letting agency. I have never been treated like this before. I give them a one star just because I am a kind person. 1. Maintenance is terrible. Some issues I mentioned had not been sorted when I moved out. 2. Do not expect to get your deposit back from them. When I left the property with a proper cleaning, I received a MASSIVE quote from them which was “quoted” by themselves rather a contractor later I realised after I went through the deposit dispute process. They charged me for leaving a drying rack which I again again told them it was not mine, thank god I unintentionally took a picture, also charging for left a door stop which they should have provided? I even don’t want to mention that the freezer was not even cleaned when I moved in and I cleaned by myself, it was stupid not to take a picture. What I meant is please have some professionalism. Please dispute your deposits if you think you feel you need some fairness. 3. Don’t forget to cancel your standing order or they will charge you A LOT AND it will take a few months for them to get it refunded.
Compare their fees with competitors. They lied to me and effectively stole from me. I cannot rate then low enough. EDIT: I did discuss this in the office. The staff were not delighted to discuss this at all. No change in opinion. Since then, Belvoir have had £30k from me and Whitegates £9k. I'd work with them both again.
One of the worst of the worst I have ever had the chance to come across. The most unprofessionally bunch I have ever seen. They treat everyone like garbage, with disrespect and total lack of fairness and honesty. If you're from abroad, you can expect being considered as a tenant ONLY for the most rubbish properties they have on the market. For the rest? You visited first?
