The worse agancy ever
If you're a tenant don't expect to get your deposit back even if you leave the property in a better state than you started.
Shame you can’t give lower than 1 star, terrible terrible company
My honest advice after using this company for more than 10 years is 'do not touch them with a barge pole'. They are absolutely and utterly useless and totally untrustworthy.
So I rented a property about a year ago and everything was fine at first. Then things started going wrong for example the tap in the bathroom was leaking which was making the tiles come up on the floor. I contacted them and it took 6 months for them to sort it. Now I left the premises about a month ago and they tried to charge me rent until may however there is a loophole. They were quite helpfull in finding me a way of leaving without massive fees so I thought that was good. Now they have told me that they have taken £90 out of my deposit for a TOILET SEAT they have done this without telling me how much they were going to take. The funny thing is i spent quite a large amount of money on the house but that just gets ignored. I will never go with this company again because it's not worth the hassle!!
avoid this company like the plague , staff are rude , dont care about the tennants , only care about the money and how much they can make , customers service skills are zilch , i have rented my house 4 years each year they increase the rent , yet the houses either side with 2 different letting agents havent had an increase , they sent me a teanacy renewal and guess what increased the rent , so i have asked to go on a periodic tennacy with 1 month notice as the house next door is coming for rent at £50 a month cheaper than the same house im renting and the other company staff couldnt be more helpfull when i phoned them and told them i will have it
been in my rental property for 8 years 8 months , 8 years 2 months of that was with reality estates until martin and co brought them out they said everything will stay the same now i have just gone to renew my contract 6months £60 or 12months £90 i asked whats the difference in the contract the answer the date so £30 extra for a date ?? a date that as to be typed in weather its 6 or 12 months with reality it was £60 6 or 12 months same contract , well i get paid monthly and with reality i could take my contract in and say i dont get paid till this date can i give you my money then yes not a problem , with martin and co no you cant a to let sign will go up and we will advertise the property please note you have 2 months notice so my contract runs out in 9 days but i have 9 days notice when i can pay the £90 in 7 days , ? well i have borrowed the £60 as now i only want the 6 months contract which will give me time to save up to get a rental property with another agent , which will be 9years in a house i love , but the service and the way this company is i just want to get out now , use them if you wish but there is other agents out there much better , this company just think everyone is beneath them , and landlords i would go elsewhere if you want happy tenants , this company just thinks its tenants are something of there shoe

I currently rent a property through these and would not recommend!! the lady who did the viewing had no knowledge of the property and was unable to answer any questions, unfortunately i was not in a position to shop around, took the property and had to pay a "moving in moving out fee" no other agent charges this as i checked but they told me everyone did so they lied to justify a fabricated fee, i then had to go to the office to collect the keys even though i paid that fee. They did not tell us how the boiler, water heater worked and said they would charge us for them to come out to show us. Shocking service. Shame there is no minus option on the stars. DATE. 11.07.19. Forgot to show up for an inspection that was booked form AM as my partner works nights, she stayed awake till 11.45 to then receive a call saying your sorry you forgot. I'll accept my £25.00 fee via transfer or cash, that's what you said you'd charge us if we forgot or cancelled, only fair we get it for your incompetence .
I have been renting now for around 12 years and Martin and Co Newark are by far the worst letting agents I have had to deal with. Make no mistake that these agents are firmly on the side of the landlords and WILL make it as hard as possible for the tennabt to get their deposit back....indeed they will also try and claim back more than just your deposit. Upon ending my tenancy after over 3 years I made sure that the property was I'm as good a condition as possible for a tenancy lasting over 3 years... I conceded some aspects but Martin and Co (along with the land lord) quite obviously wanted to get me to pay an unfair amount back..... despite my requests no quotes for the claimed work needed to be done were sent to me (despite being told this would happen within 5 days to then give me chance to find cheaper quotes if I was in disagreement). It took 3 weeks of me calling Martin and Co before before I was finally told that I would be getting zero back from my deposit!! Believe me when I say that once your tenancy is over Martin and Co will not give you the time of day.... not even to communicate by email. Beware of using this company as they will use the end of your tenancy as a money making opportunity.
