Unprofessional, rude, useless. They lie to you every time. We had to go at the office to "threat" them to send an email that we did ask for days and days. They hang up on you at the phone when you just call them for explanations regarding jobs requested that they haven't sorted yet. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Awful company, not impressed! We were treated badly and left for a month without a washing machine, had a broken boiler and other electrical problems with staff often ignoring our emails. The staff were rude and often didn't take our queries seriously - we may have been students but respect should still be shown.
The company were useless! I had to constantly ring up the company to try and make them inform tv lisencing that we had a liscence as we were getting threatening letters daily and to fix our washing machine that wasn't fixed for about a month! So much hassle on our end which is not needed in our busy final year of study! I was very disappointed how things were handled and we got extremely frustrated with the company, staff members were also pretty rude, yes we are students but we are still your customers and we expect to be treated with respect!
This company does nothing for its tenants ! I rented a property and had problems from day 1 - took them 2-3 weeks to get a response from the landlord ( they don't care who owns the properties ) without a boiler for 3 weeks in January and they didn't even care ! Moved into the apartment and was told that a couple of things needed fixing I.e lock on the door and broken bath panel - 3 years later and continuous emails they still weren't fixed , the bed mattress was covered in blood ( this had to be thrown away and replaced ) then the owner of the flat downstairs came knocking about a leak on his ceiling due to a leak under the bath , I called a plumber as this was 7.30 at night and it needed sorting only to be later told that because I didn't call the landlord ( who by the way your not allowed to contact ) I would not get the fee refunded. When it comes to getting your deposit back - forget it ! They try every scam possible to take it claiming that a bath panel costs 85 pounds to cleaning costs being 200 pounds for a 2 bedroom flat - Martin and co then take money because of a discrepancy with deposit. Currently taking the landlord and Martin and co to a small claims court ( when I rang to complain about the deposit they didn't even care ) you have been warned. All my issues with this company will now be dealt with through the courts - absolute criminals
I would not accused ALL MartinCo staff BUT the agency Policy to rob the tenants whether legally or Illegally and there are some staff response to this policy. They tried to charge me some broken items that were surely deducted from the previous tenants and just repeat rudely with every tenant. This agent absolutely, rude and greedy
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! do not go to this letting agency if you can help it! I moved into my student accommodation with no key, took them 7 days to get me another one and I was charged £25. Very poor communication, various issues with the property. They ignore our calls and emails, I have had two of their employees hang up on me and talk to me in a very disrespectful manor. We have also caught them out many times lying, they do not communicate between them or us as a house and the landlord. States in our contract we should have a TV license and they still haven't got us one yet. Overpriced fees for their "help" which is non existent. They also say one thing then do another. We want other students to not have to go through what we have in the mere 2 months we have been living here. Best to go with uni accommodation or somewhere similar. Thanks, Ruth
Booked a viewing, person never turned up. I rang up, and the woman told me she would try and contact the person who was showing me around. She never rang me back. In the end had to walk away after 30 minutes of stood outside. Woman eventually rang me and never apologised just said okay bye.
Wouldn't even give them 1 star if I could! Absolutely horrific company. Horrible, rude and unprofessional staff who are scam artists and money grabbers. If you want to stay sane, AVOID AVOID AVOID!! Not sure HOW they are still running. PLEASE LISTEN THEY ARE A VILE VILE COMPANY!
I'm not one to complain but in this case I have to. Awful company, refused to let me into the apartment for a month after the proposed move in date because they were 'cleaning' and doing 'maintenance checks', leaving me homeless, when I did move in the place was filthy. They also tried to take all of my deposit when I left the house in a better condition than when I moved in. Halfway through my tenancy they tried to increase rent by a silly amount. Please don't use this company, and if you do for some reason, make sure you take photos and videos of the place when you move in and out to prevent them taking the whole of your deposit. After a looonnnng battle I was able to get my deposit back but only because I had all the evidence and I threatened them with legal action. This is not an isolated incident, these problems have also happened to many of my friends. You are not exempt from this treatment even if you are the 'perfect tenant' and cause no issues/always pay on time. I feel that the fact that I was a student contributed to the fact that they felt they could treat me like this so be careful.
Totally agree with Alicia's review. I am currently in a similar situation not only that I can't get my deposit back the landlord also just made a claim of more than £1800. The apartment wasn't perfect when I moved in and after nearly 1.5 years some wear and tear is inevitable. Now it seems that the landlord has asked for all the money she needs to refurbish the place and replace the furniture from us so that she can make it look new to the future viewers.We haven't caused even any accidental damage to the place apart from the wear and tear. For example, she wants to replace the whole carpet even though we haven't even spilt a single drop of coffee on it. I don't know what role Martin and Co plays in this part but I can say for sure is that they haven't been particularly helpful in anyway throughout my stay apart from asking for administration fee for every single redundant and unhelpful work they have done. Not to mention I had to live without hot water for the first few days and wasted a significant amount of water for testing based on the advice I was given and no one could tell me how to fix it including the landlord. Figured it out myself eventually. Avoid this company at least the one in Nottingham if possible. If you do rent a place through them be prepared to pay all the unexpected and unreasonable hidden fees having already paid enough for the application before you move in. I would have given 'no star' if it was an option
