Maintenance Rip Off

I used their in house maintenance company called "MAC Maintenance Ltd". These were the biggest bunch of cowboys I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They wanted payment "up-front!!", (never a good sign). Long story short, they didn't do the work, and they kept my money.Please beware this disgraceful firm.

Estate agent never bothered to turn up to the viewing or notify us that the flat had already gone. After waiting for at least 15 minutes we called the estate agent only to find out that the flat had already been let out! Another person who was supposed to have a viewing before us had been waiting for 45 minutes in the cold January rain. A complete waste of time, I have better things to do than stand around in the cold and the rain. A normal person with any manners would've given us a call or at least written us an email. Now that I've seen the other reviews I am relieved we didn't deal with this company any further.

Not so much April Fools as year round fools at Martin & Co. Went to collect my keys today, 10 days after my tenants left and they have no idea where they are! The manager is uncontactable and the staff are left to flounder. I've no idea why I used these guys to manage my property, a whole load of money for nothing. Thank god I had nice tenants, but it's a shame that they also had to suffer at the hands of these jokers. Martin & Co cannot do any of the basics associated with house letting. Avoid at all costs, be you landlord or tenant!!

Just save your time and money and choose another company to deal with. Trust me, these are not a good company. The stars unfortunately go into the minuses, so I can't do a true vote. Minus 5 stars for me.

I want to write a fair review, as ultimately Martin and Co. in Nottingham did resolve the situation in some ways. I rented a flat for 1 year, mostly without problems (there was some issues when I moved in, having been promised that I could move in within two weeks, which ended up being 1 month, which meant that I was forced to stay in a hostel). Problems occurred when my flat flooded due to an issue unrelated to Martin and Co. however, unfortunately my contract was about to expire, so my plans of renewing my contract got more complicated. Matin and Co. where unwilling to help out, not even to recommend another flat which they have on their books (which isn't good business-sense). Additionally I had some difficulties getting my deposit back, taking significantly longer than the Government's 10 days after agreeing any reductions. I believe Martin and Co. in Nottingham is a landlord-centric business, so probably provide good service to landlord, and not to renters. This is a common problem of Letting agents, as there is always people who want to rent. Rather than presenting themselves as a company that you would rent with consecutively, they present themselves as one that are happy to take you letting fees, and hope the renters do not cause 'problems' like help finding somewhere to live once their flat is flooded.

I have never known such incompetence and outright lies being told whilst trying to rent a flat through this agency. I was told a flat had "excessive amounts" of money spent on it when it hardly had anything done. I rejected the flat at the time of the handover as it was grubby with stains on the carpet, kitchen cupboard hanging off, window smashed and stained dirty walls. Now they will not refund me my fees or the rent advance and deposit, in total I've paid them £1460.00. I dealt with Jesseca Spencer who was handling the let but she hasn't even been to the property to check out its condition.Yet she was vouching for it blindly. When I asked to speak to the manager he wasn't available and when asked to meet at the flat this was deemed to be not "beneficial" and there was nobody available to meet me at the flat to discuss the issues. Customer service and taking responsibility is abysmal.

Dreadful. We booked a second viewing of a house, thinking us showing interest would be incentive for them to like us, then were left standing outside in the freezing cold for half an hour because the house had been sold and nobody had bothered to tell us.
