moved into a property let by this company. after being told it would be professionally cleaned before we move in we found dog hairs all over the carpet, deep mold on the walls, a broken door handle and dirty linen left on the bed, a broken toilet and no working hoover ( which was in the inventory) we where then told that we would not have to pay the checkout fee which is to cover the aforementioned professional clean, and are now being charged for this strongly recommend not renting via this company and if you own a property only let them let it for you if you want to sell lies and be cheated

Review is for Letting dept only (haven't dealt with sales): Rude and unprofessional staff. Messed up everything that could be messed up (rent and deposit amounts, inventory, contract). Didn't even have the courtesy of apologising. Not helpful at all when asked information or assistance. Not sure why would any landlord want to put their property in the hands of these amateurs

Terrible block management and worse customer service

Abysmal block management service. Zero concern for health & safety, and totally unresponsive. A serious ceiling leak in my former rented flat lasted for 8 months (may be fixed by now, I had to move because of it), ending up with a gaping filthy 1m hole in the ceiling, but "limited budget" meant they were leaving months between updates. All the while my house was flooding each time it rained since October 2016. They still, bizarrely, responded to this complaint claiming that they "had not acted improperly". I consider a functional ceiling to be fairly fundamental, but from the reaction of Sawyer & Co block management services, it was as if I was asking for luxury. They're fine when things are going well, but they honestly cannot be trusted to care for properties. I would be disgusted if I owned that property, or any managed by Sawyer & Co. This letting agents is by far the worst I have ever encountered since I started renting in Brighton and Hove 8 years ago. I urge you to keep away so you are not scammed by this incompetent and uncaring company. They let us a property, pushing for us to move in immediately taking every penny of our hard earned money. When we got to the property it was not ready for rental, it was filthy, covered in rubbish and the plumbing did not work. When we returned to the letting agents they told us that it was nothing to do with them now and we would have to contact the landlord. They gave us only an email address for the landlord who lives in India and does not respond to our emails, Sawyer and Co insist that it is not their problem. A year later, Sawyer and Co notified us to leave the property within 2 months as the landlord was moving back in. We ended our tenancy a month after their notice and heard nothing back from the landlord or Sawyer and Co. We have been unable to claim back our deposit as we still do not have any working contact details for the landlord and Sawyer and Co still insist that it is not their problem, despite the Deposit Protection Scheme telling us that Sawyer and Co themselves are holding the deposit money. We are now having to undergo a formal deposit despute which is both time consuming and mind numbing. Dealing with this with a 5 month old baby in tow is an absolute nightmare, not to mention being one and a half grand out of pocket. Sawyer and Co will take your money but not respond to any calls or emails. Even when I formally wrote to make an official complaint to the manager, I was still met with silence. Legally a formal complaint requires a 48 hour response. Five days later after still no response I had to come into the office myself to have any kind of response. Their excuse for not responding to anything was that they were "too busy". WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

Letting agent failed to clean the property prior to us moving in, even though they charged the previous tenants for cleaning. They have also refused to return our deposit and thus far have provided no reason for doing so. Avoid at all costs!

Found my apartment in very bad conditions when I moved in. Door handles on the floor, dirt, cables hanging and the washing machine I was told that was included with house wasn't there anymore. Talked to them...still waiting. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Just generally had all over bad experience of them as a letting agent. When I viewed a property and asked if it had damp they flat out lied to me about the issues the property has (it has serious ongoing issues with damp) They are slow in returning any contact or doing anything with the property. They don't really seem to have a clue about the property. Our flat has a fire alarm wired to the building upstairs which means if it goes off we need access to the upstairs hallway to turn it off. The upstairs hallway also has our electricity meter and after asking for a key repeatedly they have done nothing. We have already had to leave our flat for the best part of a day because we could not turn the alarm off. Even when I can pin one of them down they say they will sort things but rarely will anything comes of it. The oven in our flat doesn't work and again after mentioning it several times nothing has been done. Overall the service has been pretty poor and their communication bad, so I would advise others to look avoid.

Avoid this outfit at all cost. The Lettings department are clueless and have little regard to the law of lettings to the extent that I cannot understand how they are still in business. The manager, Jeremy needs some serious training with how the tenancy deposit scheme works. (and probably other areas too..) With agents having such a bad rep in this town, you'd think that they would be doing more to prove to the customer that it's not deserved. However this isn't the case. Lazy communication and blame shifting are just a couple of things we've experienced. I find the other glowing references on here hard to believe. Must be family or friends...
