Rude, unprofessional. Asked to speak to the manager and he was not interested and clearly not a professional. I have used these guys to sell a few properties....never again - Manager needs to look for a new job!
First to take the money but last to give it back. Very bad service, not replying to emails or answering the phone.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality
Unfortunately, Martin and co aren't very responsive to emails (or calls) when they say they will be in touch - currently on week 7 still trying to get my deposit back due to them charging me £195 in cleaning expenses for no reason when the property was cleaned and photographic evidence given prior to vacating (463sq ft 1 bed apartment). Was a nightmare getting into the apartment originally - messing you around with different move-in days and form after form. When you call staff members are rude and sharp on approach (that's if anyone picks up). Shame I have to write such review to remotely get a quicker response & come to some resolution (some cases has taken 2 weeks to hear back).. they are very efficient obtaining your deposit in the first place however.
The worst and most disrespectful agency I have ever seen, they don't respond the calls and emails and in case of any criticism they (Mark) write back with outrage! after seeing the comments here and experiencing them myself decided to stay away from them!NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
Rented with them for a couple of years. In Spectrum. We were in love with the flat. Since moving in the flat wasn't necessarily in it's greatest shape but we were excited so we didn't make much of a fuss at the beginning. I regretted later. Everything we needed fixed had to be chased by us multiple times. Had a broken bed frame for nearly all my tenancy. They don't follow up any works they do. You can get your shower finally checked on monday and they will send another contractor on Wednesday for the same job, or never send anyone. After almost 2 years my flatmate wanted to move out of the property to go live with her boyfriend a few months earlier than our contract finished, and the agency first agreed to it, but last minute refused to change names in our contract and their response was to tell us we needed to move out as the landlord had "different plans for the property" the funny part is that we've learned this not from any agent but from the guy who was planning to take over my flatmate's rest of the lease. How professional is that? They didn't even bothered to call me directly to tell me I couldn't renew my tenancy they just told the guy who wanted to take the room to let us know. (THIS WAS IN MAY MIDDLE OF LOCKDOWN 1... I had all the anxiety of having to search for a new flat within less than 3 months and all of it took me by surprise.) I had to chase them when I needed my references (to rent another flat) for more than 4 WEEKS. This is emailing and calling them almost everyday. When I finally had all sorted to move out they rang me to ask me to RECORD A VIDEO OF THE PROPERTY FOR THEM TO PUT IT IN THE MARKET. (I thought the landlord wasn't gonna rent it???) I was shocked. I basically got told I had to leave the property (when in plenty of occasions I communicated I wanted to renew... and it was all a lie... The flat was becoming available) A few days before my lease was ending they rang me to offer a renewal. (Too late; I had everything packed and the new flat rented) They made us pay for carpet shampooing when it was clearly not freshly washed when we moved in, since everything was like a nightmare we couldn't get away from we agreed to pay 50% of the carpet clean. It then took them nearly 2 months to send us our deposits back. We never missed any payment and payed every month on time. We looked after the flat like it was our own. We didn't deserve that service from them. The staff is rude specifically Jess. How come those things happen?NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Stay away from them. It's a scam. They ask you to pay the booking cost and after they don't answer to your call anymore. Very bad experience! I hope to have my money back!!!!
Worst renting experience of my life! M&C thought they could just ignore the complaints we made against them...this is not legal, PLEASE GO TO THE PROPERTY OMBUDSMAN IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS. Communication: The staff are really rude and sometimes just flat out incompetent, won't get back to you unless it's about money they think they're owed in which case they'll email end of day saying they need money in the next 5 mins. The staff are bullying and aggressive both on emails and in person if you want to make a complaint Viewings: They do not adhere to the contract or law in giving 24 hours notice Repairs: we couldn't get someone over to repair until part of our flat flooded. It damaged some of our own electrical items and M&C didn't want to hear about it Cleaning: We got a professional clean end of tenancy and M&C claimed it was left in a mess and double charged us with their own cleaning agency Making complaints: M&C thought they could just ignore the complaints we made against them...this is not legal, PLEASE GO TO THE PROPERTY OMBUDSMAN IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS. I know several people where the ombudsman has ruled in their favour over M&C's appalling business practices and treatment. I personally was awarded hundreds of pounds because the agency broke so many rules and behaved so appallingly. Even during this formal process, they drew it out as long as possible. Martin and Co harassed me and my flatmate whilst we were in the tenancy and were horrible and stressful to deal with - please please just stay away. If you can't, read through the other reviews and know your rights first. Most of the 5 star ones are quite clearly fake, new accounts with only a single review...
We had a nightmare with them from day 1. Trying to get in touch with them is impossible, even before COVID-19. We would ring the branch, ask for a member of staff, they'd refuse to transfer us and then not call back. Same with emails, you have to send multiple chase ups before you get a response. Unless they wanted money from you, then they'd email you at 5pm saying they needed the money before close of play that day! I have never, ever dealt with such an unprofessional estate agent. We asked for the managers email address weeks ago and still haven't received it. We sent an email 4 weeks ago, with pictures attached explaining some of the furniture was unusable and their response said 'I cant really see the problem'. If you can, avoid, avoid, avoid! It's not worth the stress, the tears and the arguments. I understand the current situation is difficult, they have told me about how they are currently WFH , but arnt most of us in the same boat?
