Some of the staff are nice but on the whole a pretty poor excuse for an estate agents. Run by slimey men from the 70s

Can't fault the friendliness of the staff but theythe not a lot of help. Don't seem to have a lot of answers. Knew we were moving for the first time and haven't given us a lot of guidance or information. The viewing was very rushed and wasn't informative in the slightest. Was told the property would be "deep cleaned" etc but would be lucky if they ran a Hoover around. The process was very quick and the staff are lovely people but over all we're not too impressed.

Awful. We are fairly young and purchased a 5 bed via them. On house viewing the old 'gentelman' who only works some Saturdays wouldn't let us take pictures, kept asking how we can afford it and kept making jabs like he thought we were scouting out the place to rob it. At one point, he offered to send a leaflet for the property, which never turned up. The sellers used these estate agents, and they were really pushy for info from us on the chain but when we needed any info they had nothing ever and said oh we will get back to you and never would. The seller said they would break chain and they didnt not the Estate agents fault but there were numerous attempts for simultaneous and the seller went MIA on those days, trying to get answers from estate agent was an absolute nightmare. When we went to pick up the keys, the estate agent had us come a 2pm no keys available, had us hang around for ages, eventually gave us their keys as they couldn't contact seller. Turns out she was gone ages ago they said they would post us the other keys that never surfaced. Communication abysmal. Made a stressful time even more stressful.

If i could give zero stars to this company I would. They are an absoulte shambles and highly unprofessional in their dealings with previous tenants. They will not want to return your deposit, and hound you with their unprofessional emails. You would be better off dealing directly with the landlord instead of dealing with these cowboys. Avoid at all costs, unless you want stress, aggravation and to never see your money again!

Unfortunately the agency are very much in favour of the landlords over the tenants. After a 3yr tenancy, I was asked to provide them with money on top of the deposit despite me offering a settlement based on official quotes. When I queried the amount, they demanded more so I had to raise a case with the DPS who awarded me with the money I was expecting. Landlord refused to meet me to discuss, despite several requests. Advice would be to ensure you stand your ground as M&C will always side with landlord. Take lots of pics and ensure any repair/decorating costs quoted check out with what you would expect. Legally the agency should provide you with address of landlord within 21days of requesting, yet M&C refused to provide, illegally, stating the landlord doesn't wish to provide? Having rented on and off for 20yrs and bought and sold properties with numerous agencies in the area, Martin and Co stand out as the worst I have ever had to deal with.

I do not understand how anyone can stall so much repaying a deposit. Everyday something else has been brought up, these tactics wear thin and I would not recommend the use of this agency to anyone,
