Horrible experience! It's been about 1.5 months since I have left the property but my deposit has still not been returned. I wish they showed the same eagerness on checkout as they do on checkin.

Further update to come everyone. And it will be shared to all Martin & Co locations. They only offer a service that benefits them and all they do is take your money. They will offer you a lower percentage than the market and then try and take your money at every opportunity. Do not trust their smiles!!

Rented a very dirty and faulty flat with a lot of hidden things to repair. They did get it cleaned once I was in the flat and could not stand the state it was given to me. But it should not have been like this when they say it is professionally cleaned. It wasn't. I got tired of reporting the number of things that were wrong with the flat. I was deceived by them during covid times as they only did virtual viewings. Stay away from this agency and save on stress and money.

Very unprofessional business,We are Ukrainian refugees searching apartment for rent, we travelled from London to see a flat in Birmingham. We called in advance that we coming with a 1 year old child when we arrived Birmingham we also called that we will be a little late because it was our first time ever in Birmingham and getting there with a child and don’t know the road was not easy for us and they said that’s ok they will wait for us upon getting there they told us the agent had left.It is not like we didn’t call in advance to inform. You just don’t treat people like this.Very unprofessional and wicked.

The agency does not provide any support during the tenancy, price is way too high, staff is unprofessional and unprepared. Sleeping under a bridge is a far better option

* BEWARE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS * DO NOT RENT FROM MARTIN & CO * I would give them -5 stars if it was possible. The worst and most unprofessional letting agent I have ever dealt with - namely Shanti Bailey and Marie Littleford from Property Management. They are completely clueless about property law and will never ever admit to being in the wrong. Firstly, they refused the notice I gave to end my tenancy and wanted to hold me accountable for rent payments for the foreseeable future. Just to clarify, my tenancy was no longer fixed-term and had been on a periodic tenancy for the past year. I contacted other legal bodies to seek advice and I was well within my rights to serve notice to end my tenancy. No matter how much EVIDENCE I gave them to state that I had every right to give notice, they kept responding with endless lies and false claims. They argued that they could hold me captive in that property for the foreseeable future/rest of my life and that I had no right to leave, ever (anyone come across a tenancy like this before?!), so I would be accountable for rent payments forever. Not only this, Shanti also lied to me on numerous occasions (via telephone and email) stating she was SO CERTAIN I was unable to leave and that she had evidence proving this. Obviously, I never received any evidence at all as it doesn't exist! She later lied and said she never made such claims. Even I though I don't work in property, I know where I stand with my rights based on *FACTUAL EVIDENCE* i.e. not my personal opinion. They eventually decided to accept my notice to end the tenancy (at this point, I had already moved out and returned my keys to the branch - which was accepted funnily enough, despite them refusing the notice I provided a month beforehand). The issues didn't stop there. After this, I wrote a complaint to them several months after moving out regarding the issues I experienced as well as an attempt to obtain a response regarding my deposit repayment request (which I had already requested a repayment for 2+ months ago). As expected, they responded with more lies and false claims. This left me no choice but to submit a statutory declaration claim (which required a lawyer) through the Deposit Protection Scheme in order to get a response from Martin & Co. I finally received my deposit back after almost 8 months since moving out, though this is only as a result of the action I had taken. If I hadn't gone out my way to try retrieve my deposit, it would've still been stuck awaiting their response for who knows how long! I could write so much more regarding their poor service but the word count probably isn't enough to do so... Not to mention the amount of my time they have already wasted. Bottom line - avoid them at all costs unless you want to be faced with a massive headache of endless arguments/problems! Or be held captive in your rented property for the rest of your life for that matter...NegativeProfessionalism

Service quality has gone down significantly over the last few years, quality sacrificed for quantity and profit.

Not the best service. One member of sales staff left me stressed after making harassing demands over a financial matter. Felt threatened by threat of court action left me in a very distressing state.NegativeProfessionalism
