DO NOT USE THIS LETTINGS AGENT! Redbrick may seem the best of the bunch at first, but don't be fooled. For a start, their admin and signing fees seemed way more than other student lettings agents. We told ourselves this was because they would do things properly and it would reflect in their customer service...WRONG. The house was not properly cleaned when we moved in, and we had continuing problems with mould, lighting, the oven and electricity tripping out all year, and mice. Problems would never be taken urgently, we waited and waited and after reminders it was still never clear what was being done. But none of that compares to the audacity they showed us during the end of tenancy process. As mentioned, the house was not in a decent state when we moved in (in fact I found litter under furniture that dated to the previous tenants when I cleaned the house, proving their 'cleaners' do a shoddy job!), but nevertheless we left it in 100% better condition than when we found it, just to be met with a whopping sum of 'cleaning charges'. When we tried to argue against such unfair charges, we were met with infrequent, lame responses and were IGNORED for the best part of 3 weeks, each and every time phoning in to be told Matt 'wasn't available'....or rather, just didn't want to talk to us. In the end we managed to get some of the cleaning charges taken off (only by enlisting the help of a parent) but still, the process was ludicrous, and I feel sorry for any more poor souls who will undoubtedly be taken for granted by this company year after year, because they KNOW students are unlikely to know their rights, to know better. I recommend looking at DEU estates, their service is far more admirable. Trust me, however lovely their properties may look on the site, REDBRICK IS NOT A COMPANY TO TRUST. Go elsewhere.
If am honest this company does not even deserve one star....arranged two viewings in one day, unorganised and unprofessional. First house the agent had the wrong keys n codes so could not view, the second looked nice on pics, the pics were from days well gone by! The third place I agreed to take on and they never got back to me and when I contacted them someone else had taken it....Good luck!!!
Shambolic customer service, takes them an absolute age to get back to you if you report a problem with your house. That's if they don't decide to ignore you altogether! Even when they do respond they always say they'll chase it up, they'll chase it up... For example, it took them over 4 months to fix a dripping tap and this was with me sending regular emails to ask that they reply to me. When they did actually come they took the panel off our bath. It's been 22 days now and it's still not been looked at despite assurances that they will attend 'as quick as possible'. Our house wasn't fit for purpose when we moved in, my bed was broken and I had to ask for a new one, the dishwasher was incredibly old and ended up breaking, the washing machine was full of mould and was incredibly old which needed replacing. My housemates room wall was full of damp which didn't even get looked at for months, despite regular emails to chase this up. Before we moved in we were made a lot of promises and were told how speedy and friendly their service was. I fell for it! It turns out they were happy just to try and fob us off with old, worn out furnishings and appliances. They were also happy to do the bare minimum for us. I even complained to the manager and all he said was that I should copy other members of staff into my emails as even he wasn't trusting of the agent who's in charge of our house. I never got a sense of urgency from any member staff that I dealt with. None of them seem to care. We're paying a lot to live here and in my opinion this is in no way reflected in the service that we receive. Would give 0/5 stars if I could!!
The staff at Redbrick Properties were often unfriendly and very slow at dealing with maintenance issues.
I am a doctor looking for a property near a hospital. Arranged a viewing of a property at a time that had to be negotiated to suit the agent. Rang to confirm the viewing was still on 2 days in advance and was assured that it was. Arrived at property at arranged time to find no one there. When I rang, Redbrick Properties said they had no viewing arranged in their diary and that the property had already been let. Exceptionally disappointed with their poor organisation and communication.
