Absolutly terrible.Maidenhead branch is very unprofessional
Had issues from day one. Was left homeless and had to stay in a hotel, all thanks to both the landlord and agents in Surbiton, leaving the gas certificate check last minute (quite literally, a day before we were due to move in). Now, three weeks after the end of our 13th month tenancy at the property, we have still not heard any news about our deposit being returned. It wouldn’t be so bad if emails were actually responded to and customer service was better. Overall, a bad experience though and has definitely put me off renting again.
Absolute shambles. I wish I could take the stars away. They do nothing apart from robbing people without giving the service. Started with Daniel from the Sunbury office who promised us of great customer service and communication. Daniel along with his team at sunbury hardly communicated and their specialist team had no clue when they spoke to me over the phone. A sale that would normally take couple of months took over five months to complete. When I layed the frustation out to the senior directors they first asked me to pay their fees. Once I paid the fees they just told me to that there is nothing they can do. Plz plz plz do not deal with this company. You will regret your decision for ever
After agreement termination ( 5 years ) ,we have been charged renewal (? ) fee which would have been paid by July 2016.What ? Now its 2017 year. It was their responsibility to ensure that we receive the invoice by then .We never received it.So,they desided to charge us now. Overall, terrible organisation .Bad experience. Will not recommend this agency to anyone. Best wishes, Aurelija
Email to agency from today.. I agree with total cost of 447£ to be deducted from my deposit, at the same time I think its very unfair to us to charge for dameges we reported to agency with check in report. You are not helpful at all, and the level of communication is far from avarage. I will not recommend your agency to anyone as You are ordinary cheat and scum ! Regards. Chancellors Oxford, Cowley branch
Dear Chancellors team. we are extremely disappointed with the situation which resulted from your negligence. We moved in to an apartment managed by you with a car park run by a private company. You were supposed to provide us with a parking permit for a space in that car park (as it is included in the rent) but you have not. As the move in date was Friday afternoon and we had to wait until 7pm for the cleaning company hired by you, we could not contact you about that issue over the weekend. There was nowhere else to park outside the premise so we parked where I was supposed to and received two parking tickets on separate days as a result of that. I called you about that fact and it took you a week and a half to provide me with a replacement permit. We felt that it is unfair for us to pay the fine since we had the right to park there. First we appealed to the parking management company trying to explain the situation and highlighting the fact that I had the right to park from day one… without any luck. In this case we expect you to refund us a total of 120 pounds for the parking tickets as they were a result of your negligence. When presented with our position in a telephone conversation your answer was - “We are sorry for the resulting situation but there is nothing we can do about that. You will have to pay it yourself”, without even explaining why! We don’t feel that is right. It was your responsibility to ensure that we receive the permit on the day of our move in. When we called about it being missing you were not aware of that and explained that it seems that the previous tenants did not hand it in. To our knowledge the apartment was made vacant on the 16th of June giving you two weeks to become aware of the missing permit. In any case we expected a higher standard from a large and renowned company like Chancellors and certainly better customer service. We sincerely hope that you will reconsider your stance on this matter and improve our perception of your standards.
Please please every DO NOT USE chancellors,I used the slough branch for the sale of my house which has still not sold even after dropping the price nearly £50,000 and have had to withdraw in the sale as I have lost over £8000 on paying the mortage of a house that has been empty from my own pocket...i have told George that came to do the valuation on my house that I needed quick sale.He told me he could sell it very easily as it had alot to offer as a 3 bed semi and valued at £425000 back in April here we are in July dropping the price nearly £50000 with not a single offer.I am sure they are doing something wrong...are they over pricing or not doing viewing correctly are also very poor at communicating as send alot of emails and have make alot of calls regarding my sale when the eventually get into contect, very little back in return besides reassurance but still no offers.I am sure they get paid to sell my house which they haven't done as if i sell my house now I will be at a loss therefore I have had to withdraw my sale. They also have very high fees compared to other agent.SO PLEASE NOT USE CHANCELLORS WITH THE SALE OF YOUR HOUSE
I'm giving 1 star, because 0 stars is not available. We moved out of our rented property 2 months ago, after a 5 year tenancy, of which we had numerous problems with Chancellors. Starting the day before we moved in, it never improved and got worse with each year, to the point I would get dizzy and light headed upon seeing an email from them knowing that it would turn into a saga to be resolved. To really top it all off, we are still battling with them over the fees they have deducted from our deposit, of which one fee we have already paid and proven we have paid by supplying bank statements. They don't care and have ignored it. Simon Butt, Manager of Thameside Property Management has been completely unhelpful and has failed to supply us with details of our account and copy invoices which we requested a month ago and have requested every week since. We suspect his role is to stall us until we are no longer able to raise a claim via the TDS, which is why we want these invoices. A disgusting company to deal with, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. When we were looking to buy our current house, we didn't even look at adverts marketed with Chancellors as couldn't bear to deal with them again. Feb 2018: Just wanted to update this to say we received back the money taken from our deposit we were disputing with no real explanation why they gave in. I can only assume because they had no evidence of the ‘invoices’ they were referencing, and my persistence paid off. Result for us, as I was close to giving up - it had become about the principle though to me and I NEEDED to have the last word after the years of incompetence we experienced from them.
Very poor communication and service. Terrible expensive experience. Will never recommend them specially the management service. Waste of money!!!
I would be very careful about letting a property through Chancellors. We sadly used them for a year and found them to be of very little help. It appears that they allow tenants to damage your property whilst living there and give you zero support in claiming this money back out of the deposit. They act through a sub company called Thameside management and the staff there are neither knowledgable or helpful.
