Horrible experience, extremely rude staff, with a brazen nonchalant attitude, David was only nice during the marketing phase but joined his squad in the business of being unconcerned after you sign the contract. My first disappointment was from the word go when the room I had booked about three weeks prior was suddenly withdrawn 2 days to my move in date. I was devastated and had to settle for a more expensive and less desirable room at 49/51 Bedford street or risk being homeless. The weekly cleaning of the common areas of the shared apartment was a sham. The room I moved into had a leaking pipe, which soaked the mattress and spoilt my tablet. It was a very emotionally traumatic experience. Getting in touch with the out of hours service was another terrible experience! I left the house once my contract was over and trust me, they have a way of holding onto your deposit. They made a claim of £50 pounds for a stained mattress which resulted from the leaking pipe, and also claimed £45 for cleaning the en suite which the cleaner normally charges £15 for even though I had left the room in a better condition than I met it. I have written to David severally and attached video proof of the leakage but I did not get a single reply from them. I had visited the office three times to make a formal complaint and again the staff were very rude and won't listen to me. I am still trying to get the rest of my deposit back after 6 months of vacating the room. My overall feeling is that I was scammed from the onset, exploited, discriminated against and now being frustrated into giving up my hard earned deposit. I would advise prospective clients to steer clear and explore other alternatives as best as they can because I don't wish them to go through what I have gone through and still facing in the hands of Martin and co. I am giving zero star based on my horrible experience.
We were consistently let down by this branch over our 18 month contract. I certainly wouldn't recommend using Martin & Co. We've recently moved to a Leaders property and have found the whole process much more straightforward. In response: May I suggest that, instead of leaving unprofessional snide comments on all your poor reviews, that you dedicate your time to avoid future poor reviews. I wrote my review as a warning to future customers because I felt the service you provided was poor, it was not personal. We are very happy in our new property, thank you for your concern.
Shocking; They take on way more work than they can handle. I don't think they have ever communicated with my landlord in their lives. Long strings of emails never actually get anywhere as they do not take the time to read previous complaints. Their systems used are useless, I reported an issue three times about a problem which was there when i moved in. This was never fixed and I was then charged for it upon leaving!
I am in shared accommodation with Martin & Co and have been for the last year and half, I have been happy living here so i signed a new 12 month contract, unfortunately my mother has been in hospital for the past 3 months and has been told that she is unable to return home without somebody with her 24/7, I called into the office before my current contract expired and the new one 'kicked in' to discuss this and the girl i spoke with said she was sure there would be something they could do for me but would need to speak to the director and that she would call me the next day, a couple of days past with no contact from them so i called the office and spoke to David (presumably the director) he was aware of my predicament (so why no phone call), he was very blunt with me stating that there are no cooling off periods in the contract and the only thing they could do is re advertise my room but with that there would be no guarantee as the property has had empty rooms for months and i would also have to pay £120 to re advertise! He continued to agree that circumstances change but showed no empathy whatsoever, if i could see him through the phone I'm certain that he had pound signs in his eyes and an empty space where his heart should be! so i am having to stay here whilst my mother is having to pay £650 per week to stay in a nursing home instead of going home, my question is would David like this to be happening to his mother? I think not, I will be asking my landlord the same and seeking advise from citizens advice, I am not asking a lot I am just wanting to be with my mother so she can be where she belongs
I was with Martin & Co for 1 year, my tenancy ended over a month ago and I still haven't been given my deposit back which should have been paid within 30 days after the end of tenancy... I called them 4 times within last month, each time I talked to different agents and every time I was told that my deposit would be sorted out soon but it hasn't, they've been stalling me! Terrible customer service, as soon as you start reporting house issues, it takes ages for them to come and fix them, you have to remind them about. David and others were all charming at the time of signing the letting agreement but they don't treat well the existing customers and those who want to break out.
