Awful, Awful, Awful. You can report maintenance issues for months on end and nothing gets done. Terrible management (David McKnight) - extremely rude and will lie to you regarding issues you have reported just to get you out of his office so he can do more viewings for poor, unsuspecting, potential tenants. AVOID THIS PLACE REGARDLESS OF PROPERTY AS A TENANT.
The worst customer experience imaginable. The wrong key had been given to me, which did not give me access to the flat on move in date for hours. This was extremely stressful. When I emailed the Managing Director of the company, David McKnight, to explain the situation and convey my dissatisfaction , he quickly covered up for a tumultuous "cock up" on their end of the deal and said to me that the correct key to the front of the flat had simply "fallen off" from the main set of keys. This is hugely irresponsible. And he also had the cheek to say that I was not "too greatly disadvantaged"! To summarize, Martin and Co Derby are incompetent, irresponsible and have poor management. I would not recommend any Tenant or Landlord to use their abysmal services.
Appalling customer service. You'll probably do better with any other agent in Derby. I was a tenant at one of their houses. From the very beginning, it's been an awful experience. It was a late start to the initial house visit because the agent didn't bring the right keys with him. He couldn't answer questions regarding the house nor the contract. When I went to their office to sign the contract, they weren't fully prepared with all the documents. There were also so many hidden expenses which was frustrating. Luckily, I had a fantastic landlord, whom I dealt with directly for the next few months. Finally, when it came to moving houses, it took Martin & Co nearly three months to get my deposit back to me! I had to keep calling them to remind them about it, as it didn't feel like it was a priority to them. A shocking experience! They came across as very lackadaisical and unprofessional. I have dealt with a number of agents in the past. Martin & Co were undoubtedly the worst in terms of customer service!
ABSOLUTE DISGRACE !! For 3 years this letting agency has moved in troublesome neighbors next door for us. Music all day every day, children bouncing off the walls, the adults having full blown rows constantly in the garden. The local drunks use this house as a pub and yet MARTIN & Co do NOTHING !! Happy to receive there payments each month with no regard for the filth there placing beside people. We asked for the landlady's number as she the owner of the property, no they cant do that. Why is that ? The landlord/Lady have a right to know what goes on in the house they allow the letting agents to let out right ? I have video evidence, i have voice recordings, time and date stamped. Local Councillor has been notified as have the environmental health department. Regards Rob Matthews
I used Martin & Co as a Letting Agent on my single property for 22 months; although at first they appeared proactive and forward thinking, this was clearly just a veneer to attract customers. Sticking to the facts, the following reasons led to me finding ‘anyone’ else: Not proactive with finding new tenants and minimising voids. Expensive fees when compared to the quality of service. I was not paid rent for 3 months, Martin & Co didn’t even notice A large urine stain on the carpet was not noticed on a tenant’s check out. Poor communication, although Holly P seemed to be the only positive to speak of. I received rude and threatening emails when I suggested leaving. An appalling overall service with much left to be desired. Seriously do yourself a favour and use absolutely anyone else.

I am so disappointed and outraged with derby martin and co. I have had so many problems. When I managed to find an agent and property that treats people with respect they told me they don't have there ID code so I can't get my deposit back. So if u go with martin and co watch out. I would give them 0*
DO NOT GO WITH THIS FIRM. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, COMPLETE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE and no basic human compassion whatsoever.Wow..just wow: Went to see a flat - all decent, a few bits needed doing and got done to a good standard. Gave them all the money for referencing (which took ages),deposit and other fees, signed a slightly dodgy contract (watch out for the terms and conditions regarding what they can do with your deposit!), and got my keys...This is where it started to get interesting: someone (I assume one of the workmen or the cleaner) had BROKEN A TOILET SEAT and LEFT IT ON THE FLOOR, without replacing it, there were bin bags left in the flat (and loose rubbish in the bin) and thrown straight out of the window and left on the grass outside for everyone to see,the oven and the rest of the kitchen were plastered in what must have been years' worth of grime (took me three days to clean them myself)There was a gross mouldy curtain hung up in the living room, along with the whole room being generally filthy,I have been hoovering up masses and masses of sand and dust out of the carpet in my bedroom,THERE IS A LOOSE WIRE that is potentially live HANGING FROM A CEILING in the storage room,oh yes - the storage! So, I'm paying for it, but apparently I have to keep someone's huge old TV, a bike, a pram, a builder's ladder, a broken computer desk, another mouldy curtain, an a huge amount of just pure rubbish, because I'm not allowed to throw it away..but they wouldn't take it away? The stuff wasn't left in the rooms, it was left in the storage cupboards, and is clearly not needed.Furthermore, there is a case of RISING DAMP on one of the walls in the flat, which I'd reported STRAIGHT AWAY when I moved in, with pictures to show that the paint wasn't drying. I then re-sent the request, with pictures showing the advancement of the issue. I then asked them to respond to me by a certain date (today, a month after moving in), and they still haven't responded.I've had NO REPLY from them, apart from the initial "if you don't hear back by then, let us know"..which I did. I've had no time to chase it, but every time I called them previously, they have been short with me, which has seriously put me off. Holly is especially difficult to talk to - she has been good in the past, but that was when I was signing the contract. She either didn't pass on the message about my toilet seat, or didn't chase it up. No compassion, no care..just pure greed?PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS, it's not worth the slightly cheaper admin fees, it really isn't.
Worst letting agent! before we moved into the property by martin and co, we specifically said that we want the rubbish from the garden and the brown bins to be gone, as well as the electricity and gas to be working. we had to wait bloody 10 days for the electricity and gas, and even then, the letting agency only gave us a number to call and pay off the previous tenant's debt. with the rubbish and the bins, even after a month of complaining and begging, still nothing it got to the point that we are embarrassed going to the letting agency and calling them because we have done it so many times
My experience with this agency was a nightmare. They put a criminal in my property who caused six thousand pounds worth of damage in 2 months and had my other tenants threatening to leave. How did Martin & Co. deal with it ? They ignored it, did not communicate with me but when I communicated with them they lied and threatened. Absolutely horrific. I would recommend you avoid them.
